I know this question is asked alot but I have been thinking of selling my Egyptian FN 49. It's in great shape and I have owned it for almost 2 years and only fired 20 rounds through it. It is in 8 by 57.

Just looking to see if it worth selling or not... Any input is greatly appreciated!

Here's a couple of pics, phone pics... Sorry..

From what i see, you could sell $600-$700 in my opinion.

A couple of questions based on the photos that might affect value. Can't quite make out the buttstock clearly, but it looks like there's no disc in the buttstock. Is there one or not? What colour is the butt plate?

There are available what are called "Century" FN49s out there. Century Arms bought up the Egyptian stock of parts and built up a bunch of rifles. The stock on yours looks to me like the wood Century used on their rifles.

Nothing wrong with the rifles, and FN49s are not thick on the ground, period. It's just that some will pay less for a Century build/rebuild than an original Egyptian. In my view, and that's all it is (and you did ask), is that if this is a Century rifle (more pics might help), you'd be looking closer to $600 than to $700.

Yes, looks like one of the Century Arms parts gun, OK for a shooter but not in the same price range as an original issue one.

A few months ago I purchased an Egyptian FN49 (crown crest) from a fellow CGN member. The piece is in original, as issued configuration with original finish on the metal (90%+), great barrel, and walnut stock with brass disk and butt plate. The stock is well worn with various bumps and bruises. I paid $730, which I felt was full market price - but I wanted it and the price was fair in my opinion. By the way, an original brass butt plate is near impossible to find, as is a walnut stock (for the Egyptian contract at least). I concur with the wise members that have already given their assessments. You are probably looking at around $600 for your FN49.

That's a sweet rifle. I like the muzzle end of the rifle. I'm not up on these but now I want one. I dig the wood stock rifles.

I would buy it for that it looks like its in great shape and a little different from the usual. I like it and will be buying one soon. I could take it off your hands.
