Is anyone here a member of the CFB Gagetown Shooting Association?

Just got posted in and looking for information on shooting in and around Gagetown.

Noticed the base website has a shooting club that uses DND ranges, is this still active?

I don't know if the CFB Gagetown Shooting Association does much if any longer range shooting. I do know that they do pistol shooting, and hunter sight-in days.

The Royal NB Rifle Association Fullbore Section runs a full summertime shooting programme, and our principal range is the 900m Batouche Range at CFB Gagetown. It'll be next May before we're shooting again, but I'd be pleased to give you any info you might be interested in.

There is also a club in Springfield (about 45 mins from Oromocto) that has a 600m and 1000m rifle range; quite a few of our members are from CFB Gagetown.
 
There is a contact number for the Gagetown Shooting... I will contact them at some point soon. I would like to get more information about the summer programme if I may, I am definetally a beginner, but I don't mind a steep learning curve if I need to keep up.

How is the Springfield range? The website says 24/7, is there any good slower times?

I spoke with the person heading up the Gagetown Shooting Assoc. They are affiliated with the RNBRA. It's every Sunday at the 600m range, and we can request the use of other ranges apparently. There is some tricky stuff to do with being ran under Range Control, but I'm not bothered by it.

The summer time programme, do you have to register for the whole thing? Or can you come out when it's okay for you? I'm just not sure how busy next year will be with my unit going to a high readiness.

The website does say 24/7 but that's a bit misleading. More accurately, any time you want during daylight, 7 days a week; there's a lock on the gate, and you get the access code.

Most times you get a whole range all to yourself.

If you are interested in Springfield, PM me and I'll take you there as a guest and show you the facility. If you bring a rifle I can bring my electronic target system and you can try shooting at 300m, 500m, and/or 600m. Or even farther, if you wish.

You are welcome to come to an RNBRA event as a guest, once or twice. After that it would be expected that you become a member (~$30). You can come to whichever matches you want. We also run "circle training" events, which are not matches but rather a coached training session.
