TSX-FN 250 gr bullets in a 45-70, who has tried pls?

I have a Ruger #3 in 45-70 I have been playing with. I have loaded 325gr FTX bullets as well as 405 and now 420 gr cast lead bullets for it with the best being the 420gr cast lead.

In reading up on the 45-70 and available bullets, I came acress the Barns TSX-FN 250gr solid copper bullet. Has anyone tried the Barnes FSX-FN 250 gr solid copper bullets? Their site is claiming in excess of 2800 fps from these bullets, which is a lot faster than anything I have seen to date, is it a mis-print or for real? Do they group well at these volicites for you and how much difference did you see in trajectories out to say 300 yards?

Please, if you have tried these bullets, chime in with your experience.

To expensive for my tastes and the 4570 is best throwing big heavy slow bullets in my mind. 2800fps may be from a 458wm possibly. I use 350gr hornady fn interlocks and have a pile of 405gr fn to play with yet
 
I was just looking for a non-lead alternative to the cast lead bullets that I currently use and work very well for me (420 gr 30-1 BP lube). The question came about, as the NS fish and wild life folks are trying to get lead bullets banned in NS (I think that's who is behind it, there was a post on here about it). While searching web sites for non-lead alternatives, I came across the Barmes 250 gr solid copper and their 2800 fps claim and was curious if anyone had personal experience with them, to no avial. Besides, if there is a stupid lead ban, I think I would look at swagging my own given the cost of Barnes bullets.
 
I've read good results with barnes higher weight bullets in 458. I believe they were 300 or 350gr. The 250gr just seems to light. They sell in a box of 20 so someone may try them just to see. I have mixed thoughts about barnes bullets. Of the bullets I've personally seen recovered all have lost all of their petals. The animals did die however. I still prefer conventional bullets
 
Barnes does show 2816 fps from a max load with a 250 gr. TSX FN... Although only with AA 1680 powder... Most other max loads are in the 2550 fps ball park. This is ONLY for Ruger 1 & 3!

I do also hunt with a Ruger No. 3 in 45-70 and I use mostly 300 and 350 grain Barnes. All copper. I have had good results with the original X bullet (not TSX) in 300 gr. (it's a flat base, cannelured, spire point) and I can push them to about 2300 out of my Ruger (using 4227). Whenever I was able to recover bullets, they have expanded like in the Barnes ads... Though mostly they've passed through.

I also use the Barnes 350 TSX, which is also a spire point, and I can get about 2100 with 4227.

With the single shot Rugers and the like, there is no problem with spire points, and down range ballistics is much better than with a flat nose... Although most of my shots have been up close and personal.

I appreciate the offer and the information. I am very happy with my cast lead loads and was only looking at the solid coppers as a "just in case" bullet(That's just in case the fudds at fish and wild life get their way) as plated and lead core of all types are potentially on the block here in NS. Your information is all I need for now as my cast lead bullets cost me $16/100 and the Barnes are way too much money for my tastes. If I did buy some it would probably be just to have a model for the lathe and only if lead was banned.
