Just a heads up in case any of you are considering purchasing a Thumlers model B from Cabelas. I asked them on the phone which model they sell and was told it was the "heavy duty" version. Once received it turns out it has the 1550 rpm motor and NOT the 3000 rpm motor most prefer for brass cleaning. I can't really blame the person I spoke to on the phone, they are not experts by any means.

I have another that I gave to my son to actually use for rock polishing, and it will work better with the slower speed, so I am just going to trade with him.
 
Yeah, I think I remember reading about this once or twice before. The folks at Cabelas are confused on this issue.

I am thinking about making my own, and probably will do something like the one in this post.
 
I purchased my Thumler from Cabelas.com and it is the model B with 3000rpm motor. They are even on sale right now, $159 - no duty either as it's made in Mexico.
