AR15 30 Round Capacity Possibility

Hi all,

Straight to the point, we all want 30 rounds in the AR15 magazinse.
18 rounds of 5.56 fits in .50 Beowulf 5/10 AR15 Magazines.

Is it possible for us to come up with a pistol version AR15 chambered in .50 Beowulf, so that it can legally have 10/10 rounders, which conveniently fits 36 Rounds of 5.56?

Or maybe the .50 Beowulf chambered XCR, which conveniently has pistol versions of their rifles? This way we can do the 10 Round LAR mag again, but appearance-wise more like the standard AR15 Magazine.

As for the geometry, It appears that .50 Beowulf functions fine in Pmags, so it shouldn't be a problem to use standard 5.56 AR15 magazine dimensions for the magazine. Most importantly, have the magazine marked "10 Rounds XCR .50 Beowulf"

Is this do-able?

36 rounds eh? Good luck with that. I guess the spring and follower sit external to the mag? ;)

Oh and welcome to like the past three weeks at CGN. There are multiple threads on this topic already. :)

Nothing says you can't re-pin them yourself. Just make the new pin at 5.9 is secure before removing the old one.

Yep. That is one of the reasons some have inquired about buying 6 .50 Beowulf cases from Armtac...if you are planning on moving that pin you're going to need that measuring stick!

I'm not sure if that works with the registration. I think it should be hard to get pass RCMP that way, because the magazine has to be designed originally for a widely sold firearm, not individually registered pistol on your own.
Am I missing something here? Aren't .50 Beowulf pistols already available?

Just buy one of these, slap it on a lower without a buttstock, and register it as a pistol.

XCR 7.62x39 pistol mags:
Confirmed .223 capacity - ???
Feeding issues - ???
Construction - metal only

XCR 6.8 SPC pistol mags:
Confirmed .223 capacity - ???
Feeding issues - ???
Construction - metal only

Alexander Arms .50 Beowulf pinned 5rd rifle mags:
Confirmed .223 capacity - ??? (I've heard everything from 12rds to 18rds, can anyone confirm?)
Feeding issues - ??? (would the differently shaped follower or wider feed lips affect reliability?)
Construction - Metal and Polymer versions available

There are no XCR 6.8SPC pistol mags; you use the XCR 7.62x39 magazines.

XCR 7.62x39 pistol mags:
Confirmed .223 capacity - 13 / 6.8SPC capacity - 11 (both confirmed)
Feeding issues - yes (last few rounds 'jump out') / no
Construction - metal only

Alexander Arms .50 Beowulf pinned 5rd rifle mags:
Confirmed .223 capacity - 15/18 (confirmed)
Feeding issues - yes, polymer (follower tends to stick; use lube)
Construction - Metal (first#) and Polymer (second#) versions available

I've seen the number as both 18 rounds of .223, and 12 rounds of .223, based on the 5 round 50Beo rifle mag.
Which is the correct number?
