Just put a 4-12x40 on a Rem 700 300 win mag. While sighting it I noticed that the windage would be effected with elevation adjustments and vice a versa. An example: elevation up one inch at 100yd windage also moves left half inch. The gun shot amazing for years until I had to replace the original scope that got moisture in it. Is the Banner line just that cheaply made, is the fact it was bought at Walmart a sign its maybe not a true Banner you would buy at Cabelas. The mounts are solid to the gun and I see no sign of the scope sliding. I need to know if Im missing something or to just return it. Thanks

It could be possible that the cross hairs are not perpendicular to the bore. This may cause the POI to track left or right while adjusting up or down. Something to check.

banners are a cheap scope and its possible that walmart banners are even cheaper. Your rifle deserves better imo. But yes, send that scope back to bushnell and when you get it back put it on a 22.

IIRC, the older Banners were made in Korea, while the new ones are chinese. I've had a 3-9 Banner Dusk and Dawn on my Savage MLII for almost 10 years and it shoots sub MOA......

I've had that happen with a Burris Fullfield II as well, but after a shot it returned to the correct windage. It's like the elevation change temporarily deviated the windage.

Is the scope canted? If the scope is not set up level then your shot would go left or right when you adjust it up or down. Picture is exaggerated just to give you the idea.

Buy a better scope! The new ones are nowhere near what they used to be.

Putting such junk on any rifle let alone a 300 wm is just asking for disappointment!

Now come on. There's no need for that kind of logic and common sense here. But you're right. The vast majority of what wears the bushnell name is crap. Buy better glass and such issues are no longer an issue. I would hesitate to put a banner on a rimfire let alone a magnum.

Mine works great on a .22, windage and elevation adjust just that, but then again your cannon might have rattled it apart as they are not made that strongly. If the second one does that as well i would say the scope is not for your gun

I got a banner too.

Had it on my 17hmr then I put it on my 270 for this years deer season. It hasnt worked right since day one. Half the adjustments to sight it in dont work. Should be 8 clicks of elevation to bring it down 2 inches at 100m, not anywheres from 12-16. Oh well I hear they have good customer service. I was thinking of asking them that I want to trade it in for a Lengend ultra hd and paying the difference. The 4-14x44 looks nice.

ive never had a problem with my bushnell, ive heard some issues but any can be delt with fast, you even can bring it right to richmond hill and get it back in less then a week.

For anything other than a .22 range toy the Elite series is minimum.

I have a 3200 3-9 that I have beat up pretty good and it still holds zero no problems.

^^^ What mlehtovara said!

My Bushnell Elite 3200 3x9x40 has been excellent on my 30-06 for several years. Elevation and windage do what they are supposed to. A rule of thumb I heard once was "spend the same amount on a scope as you did on the rifle". Since i am as poor as the next guy I don't even come close to this but the Elite is fine and I am also sold on Leupold VX II's. Cheap scopes don't last on big bore IMHO.

While you are at it buy a Wheeler Engineering "Level -Level- Level" for 20 bucks at Cabelas or WSS and live happily ever after. I did.

If that scope is mounted level I would return it to Walmart too because that is light years quicker than any kind of service that can be expected from the Bushnell service centre IMO. BTDT

Did you mount it correctly? Not to be a smart aleck but I have seen a pile of rifles come through my buddies gunsmith shop with the same problem and every time it is because the scope needed to be turned 90 degrees because the owner had mounted it incorrectly......

Walmart does not sell quality optics. Atleast not in this country.
