Hey I went to one shot tactical yesterday and bought a Daniel defense 308 muzzle brake forM y m14.
I was wondering once the norinco brake comes of how hard is Ito get the new brake on?

Does it still use the stock castlenut to keep it on? If so, it's all good.
If it threads onto the existing barrel thread, you 'might' be okay.
I know that with my SEI DC vortex, it is designed for G.I. muzzle thread but does thread on to the chinese thread and does so securely.

Pretty sure SEI makes the only direct connect M14 product, your DD brake is most likely threaded 5/8-24 so you'd need one of the SEI thread adapters. Armtac is bringing them in with their next shipment. There's a thread somewhere which shows a pic.

We have the adapter if u need one.

They are item 2002, for muzzle brake Threaded 5/8"x24, price is $95 and they are in stock now, just haven;t got a chance to put it on the website.

Let us know how the DD muzzle brake works for you. I can't find any reviews of this unit. It would be great to have an alternative to the SEI Coast Guard brake.

With this adaptor only AR10 muzzle brakes will work on the M14 but that is a hell of a lot more options then what is currently out there and we should all than Armtac for steeping up to the plate and getting this great product in country for us.
Thanx Armtac
P.S. Remeber to get a crush washer too if you are plaining on putting a muzzle brake on your rig. Not only is it great for indexing it properly but will prevent it from walking off on you ;)

i just ordered this adaptor from Chris at Armtac. Should be in on 03 Dec soon. Now to find the correct looking /working brake/flash hider from Brownells with the 5/8" x 24 tpi thread pattern. Lots of great(er) options even if I do love the existing flash suppressor with bayonet lug. Oh well.....

Cheers,
Barney

Putting a new brake on should be easy... I can't get my old one off!! I backed out the screw, can turn the nut and have been hammering on this damn thing for two days...I guess next step is a hacksaw???

There are probably 2 spot welds holding it on. Do a search here and find folks technics for breaking those welds. They usually all involve a bigger hammer.

lol well...my brake is still on...my vice needs to be moved though because it started ripping off the table...bigger bolts on my vice and a dremel are going to solve my problem I hope!

Getting the flash hider off can be a real pain. I beat on mine for almost an hour and ripped it up pretty well. The secret was in locating the places on the circumference of the FH where the welds were applied, and beating on those. I had some pretty stubborn ones on the bottom (ie. pointing down when rifle is oriented for shooting).

Dremel will work as well I'm sure.

Did a quick comparison on the following muzzle brakes: Springfield,Troy Medieval,SEI Navy,PWS FSC30. Springfield and Troy pretty close, SEI definitely better, PWS had the least kick and stayed on target better but seemed to move point of aim to the right. Need to try it again. Also tried the PWS Diablo, hides the flash but using Norc ammo sometimes saw sparks or maybe burning powder flying down range.

Thanks for letting us know, very interesting.
