First off, the article in OP is from September and has been posted on CGN at least a few times already. Second, there is ZERO chance of the CPC prohibiting or restricting the 858. If/when a lefty government is in place, then I could see it, but there is no way the CPC is that dumb.

Look at it from an anti's point of view. The general shape is the exact same, the banana mag is iconic AK, the stock set is close enough to identical. Yeah those of us who know, can tell the difference, but those who know nothing can not.

Considering how wiki's are made I wouldn't hold full weight on what it says. Nevertheless, based on that definition, there are no assault rifles available in Canada, no matter how often the lefty media calls them as such.....

Maybe not now, but governments come and go and ideology too. I haven't forgotten what the PC's done before C68 either.
My point still remains, if it looks like an AK, it must be to the anti crowd.
Don't get me wrong here. I like AK's, the variants especially Galil's snd CZ 58's.

They both have:

Pistol grips
Banana magazines
Two piece handguards with horizontal vent cuts
Exposed gas system forward of the handguard
Barrel prominently underneath the gas system
Prominent front sight tower

Pick any two and that's all any "non-gun" person needs to draw a parallel.

And my eyes are perfectly fine. You put a strait mag on the vz58 for 556 like it was originally designed for and it would look even more different.

The banana mag is the main thing that people tie the VZ to the AK

The AK should be non-restricted anyways, just like Valmets.

They look the same to me even fire the same ammo but the CZ-858 is more accurate if that dummy had an AK he wound have done less damage. Every 3rd house has a CZ-858 around here. You never have these shootings in BC or Alberta everybody is packing heat. If there was a Red Dawn around here they would be dead before they hit the ground. The Russians would be better off attacking Quebec first apparantly there is no guns there. What is so great about the AK anyway. Pin the AK to 5 rounds and lets see if the accuracy is as bad as the SKS

AK accuracy is Minute of pie plate @ 100yds. I've owned a few before prohibition and found the SKS more accurate.
One AK was the Chinese version with 19" barrel, the other was a Russian original.
Wish I hadn't sold the Russian. They are still the most reliable select fire weapon and cheap to produce.
The CZ 858 is right up there with it for sure.

my friends and family thought I bought an AK when i sent a pic of my SKS......I love my family and friends, but never rely on the layman to be able to tell the difference.
