I bought 1000 rounds of .223, only to discover about the same in the back of my ammo safe! I had completely forgotten I had it.

When you take the Honda Foreman to go install and pick up your targets @ 200 metres... JP.

LOL I thought nobody could see me. I enjoy the walk....................it just takes so bloody long now, and guys get pretty impatient waitng for the Old Fart to come back.

Maybe you old fuddy duddy's should have a journal/log in your locker/gun safe (or at least in a safe place) of what you have just bought or are going to buy in case you go on a spending spree to buy more ammo. not mention, if some sh*trat/scrote decides to do a B/E and takes what is rightfully yours, you have a list for the police..............(then again maybe not in your best interest) And before i get grilled....I am speaking from experience.....only with my tools from my garage from a B/E.......though the journal was provided to police.....they have yet to make an arrest.............but it did help with the insurance claim....

But ammo is a "consumable" around my place, a log would be redundant!?

Hands up any body who forgot to take their gun to the range....................
True love is a wifey that drove 45 km to laugh at me, then she gave me the gun and a Timmys :)

Thats why I log my ammo stash in a Word doc.

Where's the fun in that?

She is a keeper, lol

I once went to the range at about 11pm or so and found a gun case with two revolvers in it on the couch. Luckily to poor older gentleman left his reg certs in the case, I really did not want to call the police. So my shooting buddy and I spend the better part of an hour calling people with the same last name in the phone book, until we finally got a hold of him.

Damn, was he ever embarrassed but super happy we found them. He was packing up and placed the case beside his range bag instead of in it. I am glad it worked out, his guns were super nice.

Holy sh1t^^^this is when you're getting old. Good gunnutter Karma points for tracking him down Shawn.

So I was poking around in my ammo cache (as the media loves to call it...) and found a can of .223 handloads, probably about 400 rounds.
YIPPEE!
Off I go to the range today to see how they work in my Mini-14. I havent fired it in a long while.

Well..., they fire and eject just fine but dont have enough exhaust to cycle the bolt back far enough to pick up a new round!
Now I remember what happened. I was building a load for accuracy and was feeding them into the gun one at a time. So I didnt notice they didnt cycle far enough, and loaded a ton of what I though was "the perfect load"

So now I can either pull all ~400 apart, buy a bolt action, or maybe put a slightly lighter recoil spring in the gun...

Other than that, it was a good day.

I forgot all the magazines for various rifles/pistols one trip to the range but luckily I had a revolver.

But I am young so I cannot even blame old age.

Went to the range a few months ago and left the key ring with all of my trigger lock keys at home. Forgot to put them back in my range bag after cleaning my guns.
