Video Games and Guns

Video games don't make people violent- The jury may still be out on that- h ttp://www.telegraph.co.uk/technology/video-games/9593188/Violent-video-games-make-teenagers-more-aggressive-study-finds.html

Key word there is "sustained". Maybe if they spent less time gaming and more time outside interacting with others, the results would be a bit different. Don't forget that a pretty much all FPSs have online multiplayer with voice chat, so maybe it's the interaction with all the idiots accusing others of hacking/annoying 12 year olds whose parents shouldn't even be letting them play/trolls etc that are making people angry, not the games themselves.

Regarding that Brock U study, you might want to read more straight from the horse's mouth:

I'm curious what people who think violent video games is a direct cause of violent behavior think about hockey, football participation, both potentially highly competitive and also (full contact) violent.

As far as all of the 'CoD kiddies' taking an interest in shooting, I'm one of them! Haha, not really, but I do come from a very left leaning family (I'd consider myself socially liberal on most things), with the entirety of my exposure to firearms coming from media - films, video games, TV, news. What really interested me was the design/engineering aspects, as well as the skills and weight of responsibility involved in controlling such a device, especially symbolically.

So as far as I am concerned, I don't think the increased exposure to shooting sports from violent video games is necessarily going to be a bad thing, provided a community exists to properly guide newcomers with ZERO real experience and a LOT of media-based preconceptions, as long as they are willing to be educated.

This. I don't even try to play online anymore. It was bad for my blood pressure. :p

What's to worry about? The fact that he is young or the fact that he plays video games? He has his Rpal and I presume he didn't steal the gun, he paid for it so why worry? I watched T3 the other night and thought that lever action SG Arnie uses would be cool to have...should THAT cause anyone to worry?

Really? I re-watched T3 about a month ago and thought the same thing!!!
