Sorry if this has been asked before, I serched, could not find anything. I picked up a sks a while ago, just got around to cleaning the sling, go to mount it and I must be looking at it wrong. I see that the quick connect clips onto the front, how does the sling mount to the stock at the rear? Any help would be appreciated.

No sure it it right or not. It goes into the sling swivel on the butt. You adjust it so the buckle is on the outside so that you can adjust the sling length. The leather ring can be sling either up or down to stop the sling from moving.

The quick connect clip goes thru the bottom swivel first and then the brass buckle (both halves). When putting it thru you start the snap flat and just twist it vertical so that the strap is flat and can pass thru the swivel and buckle. You will get the hang of it once you try.

Hope this helps.

Good luck

Good explanation and pics. It took me around a hour to figure that out when I got my first SKS. Its good theres a site like this for the newbies to go to. Kudos.

The problem is, the clip end doesn't look like it will pass through the buckle, so it confuses a lot of people when they see the closed loop. They don't even *try* to un-thread the sling.

Don't worry, you can finagle it through there.

Now that we know how to attach the sling the question is:

To sling, or not to sling?

Advantages? Disadvantages?

I like the clean look so no slings for me.

I use the sling on all my milsurps, Im not one of those guys that sits all day on his butt at the range. So the sling is needed to lock my support arm.
