7.62x25 tokarev

Hello,

Just wondering if the 7.62x25 tokarev ammo is steel core or steel jacketed? Looking for tokarev ammo to shoot at the range and can't have steel.

Most definitely steel core in the czech stuff. makes great spark show when it hits the steel backs in an indoor range. Found several steel cores in the dirt too.

Surplus is steel core, if you want to shoot 7.62x25 indoors than you'll have to buy newly manufactured ammo. Stuff like the PPU 7.62x25 is lead core FMJ.

The range nearest me does not allow steel anything. Jacket or core. All has to be non steel. Its looking like i bought a pistol i will never be able ti shoot.

I know its not haha. Its just the outdoor range requires me to know a member that has been there a year. Well i am new and dont know anbody so its a bummer

agreed i know of one range that only allows lead or plated, no steel, FMJ or TMJ, its a joke.

Hi yes there is ammo that you can buy that is copper jacket and lead core .
Sellier and bellot tokarev ammo its a bit pricey but is clean burning and reloadable too.

You will need newly produced Factory Ammo. Surplus contains some degree of steel. New factory ammo does not. S&B makes new factory ammo for $21.95/50 or $399/1000 approximately. The difference in price will tell you.

Yeah I thought that would be the case. I'll try and find some in one of the local Edmonton gun stores or failing that order some online.

Buying a Tokarev and using expensive ammo kind of defeats the purpose of the gun... to be a low priced pistol that you can feed cheaply.
