460 s&w

Or,;) go for the gold. A shooting buddy has a 500, the same as mine

except his has the original Hogue grips. $1250.oo I believe.

Thing is, i dont reload. So with the 460V i have ammo options, like 45LC, 454, or 460. So gives me options if i cant find 460 ammo.

Had the chance to shoot a 460S&W, a couple of weeks ago.
The owner let me fire of a couple of rounds of 45Colt, 454 Casull and 460 S&W.
All factory loads.
45 Colt cartridges were nice and mild.
454 Casull had a very manageable recoil.
But the shockwave of the 460 overpowered any preceived recoil!
I'd love to have one of these.
Just don't think I'd feed it a steady diet of 460 factory loads,
even if I could afford it.
It's owner wants to also get a BFR in 45-70.
Sucker for punishment??
45/70 BFR is a very mild handgun to shoot with factory load. I was really surprised when I shot one in Las Vegas

:)Gonna' help you out with ;)a New Years Resolution and one that will Super enhance your interest and enjoyment of firearms and the related shooting sports.
Get into reloading and you won't look back. Happy New Year:p.

Own one, love it, will never get rid of it! It's a magnet at the range, everyone wants to see, try it and puts a smile on everyone's face! So awesome!!!!

Wish we could get the shorter version 500 in Canada. Like this one but restricted barrel.

Going by the recoil of my 8 3/8" 500, I can only guess that with similar top end loads using some of the heavier bullets in something that size, recoil would be vicious to put it mildly. Even with the stock Hogue grips that came with mine, I found it still had the ability to 'inflict' pain, ;)at both ends.

Changing the grips for a custom set of Jorden Trooper stocks by Herritt's has tamed the discomfort:cool: or at least made it bareable. Now when I touch one off I still know I have a 'handful' but now I don't get the sharp localized pain in one spot.

I wonder how much unburned powder gets puked out the front though with such a short barrel?
