With regards to post #1:
Is it then illegal to practice (obviously with a Cnadian legal/ empty / dummy cartridges? pistol/revolver while in the safety and confinement of a basement? I would be worried if the people standing next to me on the range only practice when they are on the range. Is this why I see so many "finger on trigger" while on the range when the firearm is not aimed at a legal target? At least you should carry and operate drills and other tools with your finger "in register", i.e. above and away from the "trigger". After all, this is now second nature and permanent muscle memmory, or it should be!
What worries me even more is that some LEO's only handle a firearm when they holster it first thing when going on a shift, or when they qualify once (every 6 months???) a year? If they cannot even protect themselves, how are they going to protect us?
Scars from holster wear on a handgun (including revolvers; obviously you also train holster use with a revolver if you own one???) is less serious than scars on the skin by ND (negligent discharge) or friendly or hostile fire. Blueing is cheap enough, or go stainless steel and just polish!
