Gsg stg-44 non-restricted rifle

I hate to be a pessimist but I can't imagine this being non-restricted in Canada. I'm sure most of us could quickly come up with a lengthy list of of .22 rifles that are restricted purely due to outside appearance. I can name that song in four notes: Armi Jager.

armi jager looks like a class of restricted firearm, and the gsg-5 is prohib because it looks like a named prohib

this is based off a currently non-restricted firearm

Actually, the semi STG 44s are restricted by barrel length. Since there's no barrel length restriction on semi rimfire (overall length still applies though), these should be NR unless the RCMP goes to their magical machine shop, spends a couple hours and finds a way for them to make it full auto.

i thought questar was bringing them in with nr barrels for some reason my bad. Still the point stands that its not based off a named restricted or prohib like the 2 examples

Hello All,

We are in the same boat as everyone else at this point. The STG-44 is at the RCMP lab for classification and that is all the information that we are being provided with. We are told that it is "Pending" and no more information is currently available.

Best regards,
Ryan Patterson
Blue Line Team

"Pending" ......cruelest word ever uttered, except for maybe "prohibited".

Seriously though, this seems so straight forward, we can already buy it's big brother and it's not restricted.

Ah well...something to look forward to, thanks Blue Line for going through all this effort for us to enjoy another gun.

Prohibited is THE worst word for us. I'm still disappointed I can't buy a regular sized and barrel length luger because of 2 freaking millimeters... Instead of spending a couple hundred, it rises to close or over a thousand for someone to swap the barrels and resell...

As per this beauty, I would hope that common sense prevails and that it stays non restricted... either way, this is on the 2013 list, and Blue line, thanks for the efforts

Still waiting on these, wish the RCMP would stop farting around and let them in!

For those who haven't seen it, here's something to chew on :D

Have you ever seen a gun he reviewed that he didn't like?

Oh and nice Blackadder avatar. Wobble wobble?

I prefer this guys reviews, even if he does drive by postings on here, and ignores the Canadian recommendations on how to do quick mag changes for the Tavor.

So help me understand this, without going through the wole thread; the STG44 is not a named prohib, theirfor they couldn't call it a varient of a prohibited firearm right? So the only way they could prevent it from coming in, would be to prohibit it by saying it could be "easily converted", correct?

Assuming that's true, the only real reason I can see this taking so much time, is that billy-bob at the RCMP lab is busting his hump trying get the thing to go full-auto by machining a whole new fire-control group. Gaads.......

Nice video reviews thanks.

I have some concerns he mentioned the bolt being similar to a 22 converersion for a AR-15.
