I went out for coyote’s this morning and got a beauty, a really nice red coyote, the reddest coyote I have ever seen. She was in great shape with a great hide weighting in at 36lbs…. A buddy at work asked me to go coyote hunting with him up to his place where he deer hunts. The land owner wants all the coyote’s taken out. We did 3 sets with no results and on the 4th set (10:30am) about 20 mins into it this coyote comes within 15 yds off my buddies left shoulder. It catches him off guard as the coyote came in from behind and down a hill. I guess it wanted to circle the hill and do a wind check before coming into the call. The coyote winded/saw us and starts running away full speed. Its running through tall grass and it’s a little hilly so I lose her, she her, lose her and she her, line her up and take the shot. Bang coyote down, I got it ranged at 140yds. The shot broke its back; what a rush…. it did need a follow up shot to finish her off, great morning to be out despite the poor (damp/windy) weather….Enjoy the pics…
We were sitting on a crest of a hill; we just finish calling/doing a set about 300 yds behind us….
The coyote came in from behind us (where we just came from) below the hill and was coming up toward the sound getting a wind check when it spotted/smelled us and took off running
We were lucky enough to get an ATV in close to the base of the hill we were sitting on (calling from)….
The prize, a great looking coyote….
