Hey guys, I have a friend who is considering buying one of these from wolverine supply. As he and I dont know much about them I thought I would ask for your opinions. I know the 1st gen XCR L had a lot of issues with them, which were corrected when the newer batch came out. How do the 308 version stack up? Any known issues? Accuracy concerns/particular brands of ammo they like? Does he need to buy a case of loctite with his gun? Whats your opinions and observations? I dont feel like reading all 92 pages of the FAQ thread. Got bummed out after the first 8 pages....

Have HIM sign up for CGN and read up on the 92 pages himself ;)

One more CGN'er is always a good thing.

I would like infos myself as i will order one pretty soon, reviews sound good, but actual owners is better... JP.

I have one and I love it, had some ammo related issues at fiirst, but now I know what it likes. Great ergos, easy to strip, a ton of fun to shoot. Not a precision rifle by any means, but it would do fine for hunting, which I plan to do eventually. It likes 168gr SMK's just fine and cheap Fed blue box 180grs work well, but not the 150's. Have some P-mags to try out, the mags that come with the rifle are a little junky IMHO. I didn;t like the stock grip, so put a MIAD on it. The irons it comes with are pretty good. All in all I think it is great rifle. DOn't listen to the loctite haters out there. It's like any other rifle, with proper care and maintenance, you shouldn't have any issues. As far as Robarms goes, I have had my issues with them in the past with a different rifle, not impressed, but Wolverine will look after you.

I'm also looking hard at an "M". I have an L and absolutely love it! Would enjoy hearing more Canadian owners experiences with it and how it might compare to the lighter .223 version? The only thing that is stopping me is that some owners are reporting very poor accuracy? Lets hear more feedback!! Thanks!
The only thing that I don't like so much about mine is the weight. It originally seemed fine until I bought a DD M4, and now it seems to weight way too much, lol! Mine shoots great at the range for what it is though and not what single issue after a year of ownership.
Have bought a ton of stuff at Wolverine over the years from Guy and John and they are top notch!

Heard their customer service need to improve..

In the US Robinson Arms is known for absolute crap service.

Here however we have Wolverine to thank for top notch service. Combine that with Canada being a primary market for the XCR rifles and Robarms actually treats us quite well.

It's a heavy, hungry, pig of a rifle. However that being said it's fun as long as you can afford to feed it.

Accuracy? I'm not going to put it head to head with a custom built precision bolt action. This is where people tend to get dissapointed as they expect similar results with the -M out of the box to a precision rifle, it's not going to happen without work on your end if at all. The rifle is capable of minute of game animal all day long, looking at it this way it will not dissapoint.

For the record I do not own one but have had enough time behind my friends to have a damn good idea. Like everything RA produces if I pick one up I'll let others be the guinea pig until a few revisions from now :D.

I have been toying with the idea of having Herron Arms put a real barrel on mine. Just not sure if it's worth it or not. I think I would rather do the same to my Swiss. But as I mentioned earlier I really like mine and will continue to shoot it and see how it holds up. I think it has the best ergos out there, although I got to handle a Scar-H in the staes and it was pretty damn nice.

J just got mine (in green) I have shot 60 rounds of Hornady Match steel case 155 gr(308).NO problems at all.I have a elite 6500 2.5 - 16 x 42mm
I will be putting a muzzle brake on it .I have only shot out to 100 yard,I use playing cards on 11.5 x 8 paper.it will stay inside the card(off bench).Standing I get 2,3 on card rest around card but stays on paper. My club has only a 300 yard range ,so this weekend I will try out to 300.
I love it and I can hunt with it,I will be getting a 260 rem for it.After brake in I will try some reloads VLD s in the 170 s

The XCR-M seems to be one of the rifles you want to buy used, break in period's complete usually saving about $300 ;). Out of curiosity what gas setting are you starting the break in with? Heard about the -M tearing off the rims on too high a setting, of course for the record this is rare. Still interested to know what you're getting away with for initial gas settings, you might get to save $100 during break in :p.

The gas setting is on the highest(from the factory) it says for the first 100 to 200 rnds, no trigger slap.I have only been out once,I will hopefully get out this weekend .I will post after any problems or not .It is as fun as a Ruger 10 22 .I am very happy
