Is there such thing as a bottom metal for Rem 700 in 223 that will accept AR mags?

It might not be the right place to post this thread..if so, can you please move it!

Hi everyone,

I just purchased a Remington 700 Varmint and dropped it in an HS precision stock that I had on my 5R a little while back. It was modded to be DM. When I put the varmint in it, I tried to put some 223 rounds in the mag (SA non magnum) and of course, they won't fit! I want my rifle to use mags! That being said, I have an AR... so I thought about that... Is there such a thing as a bottom metal for Remington 700 that will accept AR mags? If anyone know about that, please send me a PM (if it is not a sponsored dealer) to send me in the right way..

Or, second option, if someone has a 223 mag or know where to find one for a Rem700 DM and want to sell it, i'm your buyer!

Thanks everyone!!

There was a company in washington that was selling them a year or two ago. Can't remember the name, and google is letting me down right now. It does exist though.

EDIT: Found it through one of my old posts. Try googling 'dbmg-llc'

Quite a few threads on detachable mags for Remingtons. For AR mag use, you'll still be limited to 5 (rifle) or 10 (pistol) rounds. Other than post #3, there was an outfit in Australia that made bottom metal, but you had to machine out a bit of your action for the mag to feed. Recommend you go with any bottom metal that accepts the AI plastic mags for .223 (see Wolverine).

Any bottom metal that will work with the single stack AI center feed mags will house the 223 AI mag.

give me a shout as we are working on stuff for the new year.
Jerry

PS - sorry, was seeing AI mags.

Not sure on AR mags as their latching is not common AND their feeding could have serious problems

I did the next best (not always the cheapest, but it works) thing as Gerry / MysticPlayer suggests.... AICS .223 magazines made of polymer. I just happen to also buy the AICS 2.0 folding stock because of the KooL Factor! :D

The AICS magazines are purty darn good feeders even if I do love my 5/30 rd Pmags for my AR, the AICS .223 magazines are selling for around $ 40 apiece plus taxes and mailing. Wolverine is a board sponsor and they import AICS goodies. Certainly worth considering!

Cheers,
Barney

DBMG in the states makes a Remington 700/AR15 bottom metal. Armalon in the UK also makes a compatible rifle, thoug not necessarily a standalone conversion unit.

You make a good point, but you could use 10 round AR Pistol Mag on your bolt action instead of a pinned 5 round AR Rifle Mag, this would require either a custom made bottom metal that uses AR mags
or some modifications to the mag to work with the existing bottom metal that's assuming your rifle uses magazines. I am contemplating modifying a 10 Round AR pistol mag to work in my Savage model 11,
that or a ACIS .223 Mag.
