Concealed/Open carry for Canada....ever?

never, i don't see the political will to do it in gov't

we'd get to use handguns to hunt ...way before a conceal carry/open carry .. and the chance of that is Zip

my advice, is wait till the currency collapses and then push for change ... (haha sorry for the bad joke, but its about the only way we'll get some freedom back in socialist canada )

I agree but hopefully hunting with handguns isn't out of the question.

hunting with handguns...???????????????????????? NOT GOING TO HAPPEN

experts will line up coast to coast to show how dangerous and unpractical. hoowever, I am more than willing to give it a try.

I would think fighting to eliminate the ATTs would be easier or atleast ATTs with lax conditions

No thanks, our Gov't is weak.

I have just read a few weeks ago that a large number of ex-convicts , who were not legally allowed to carry firearms, bought hunting licenses in this great country.

So if we allow criminals to carry firearms, you think every Tom, #### and Harry need them aswell????

No offence OP, but if I get in a verbal argument in traffic, I would have to worry about someone putting a gun in my face?
Not everyone is perfect, sane or makes correct decisions 100% of the time.....................

So much fail!!!

You think somehow that only if we are granted CCW that you will have to worry about people pulling guns on you?

Have we not already established that criminals already have access to guns, and they are relatively easy to get?

Have we not already established that pieces of paper like licences and ATT's do nothing to stop crime?

The fact of the matter is that the chances are the same of getting a gun pulled on you without or without lawful concealed carry as the criminals are already doing it without government permission. It's just that with the law as it is you have no legal chance of defending yourself with a concealed of your own.

Those that are willing to jump through all of the hoops required to lawfully concealed carry are highly unlikely to commit a crime with their firearm. A citizen with concealed carry goes out of their way to be law abiding, and they have done so right from the start as they have informed the government of their intent and been vetted to do so. Part of any good concealed carry course will teach you conflict de-escalation and to walk away when ever possible, so I have to point out if you're getting into arguments in traffic and you get a gun on you from a lawful concealed carry citizen then you have most likely escalated the situation to the point of that person being able to articulate a threat upon their life or well being.

Man just how many arguments do you get into while in traffic anyways? :yingyang:

No, but the chances of this could go up???

Actually the chances tend to go down. It's reasonable to believe that if one person has been granted concealed that another will have it as well. People tend to respect others that can inflict an equal amount of harm in defence.

I don't think it will happen. Do we need it, everyone has an opinion. But, having spent time in a US carry State, where everyone seemed to carry, I wasn't overly impressed. You could get shot and not see it coming and know why!! Not that it couldn't happen here, but I don't think returning fire will make you medically better.

None, it was used as an example only.

I do not disagree with you about the law abiding citizens not being careless. I completely understand that.
All it takes is just one person to go ballistic, that can happen with anyone at anytime....regardless if there is CCW or not...just a bit easier if its strapped to your side......that is all.

I understand that people want to "take advantage of the conservative majority" and go for broke right away. They won't do it, even with a few years until the next election granting CCW is political suicide at the moment (IMO). Like has been said, start with relaxing ATT/allowing any gun to be fired in a legal location outside a range. If a .50 can be fired, why can't a .22lr pistol be fired in the same place. What's that saying, how do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time. I would love to see CCW in my lifetime here in Canada, but I also understand that it has to come slowly. We have to convince the public that we're responsible with new freedoms, such as has been done with the repeal of the LGR and the streets not "running red with blood". It's also about educating the relatively uninformed public, take a non shooter out to the range with you each time you go (if you know of any that is).

EDIT- forgot to add the word pistol after .22lr

:agree:

Ibtl

IBTM. (move)

And I already have an ATC. You're correct about it being dangerous, not just to the public, but to me too.

Those Honda 3 wheelers are death traps!

Even though 99.99999999989% of C-68 and cousins lack reason and logic, let's at the very least apply some logic to the (unnecessary) ATTs.
As they (ATTs) stand now, I'm trusted to take my restricted from one end of the Province to another, between CFO-approved ranges, but I can't be trusted to take my broken, non-working restricted to my gunsmith a few blocks away (and, incidentally and coincidentally, on my direct way to my usual range.)
No need for ATT at all. My (R)PAL has already vetted and qualified me.
