Will post pics of moose, all I had was my $hitty BB with a dirty lens. Hornady XTP 300 grain, 90 grains of T7, 117 yards of flight time, two ribs, and 30+" of chest cavity. One shot, she staggered, wobbled, then fell over backwards. I recovered the bullet just under the hide on the opposite side. Bullet weighed 291 grains.

She was a big bee-yotch. I suck at the hero pose so the pic doesn't do it justice.

Way to go. Do you use XTP's for deer hunting too? I have been using Traditions smackdown bullets and sabots 250g for the past 3 whitetails, with no expansion evident. I have picked up some 330g PR bullets and sabots to try, but have been wondering about the XTP's. I have a Traditions Buck Hunter and am using 100g of 3f Goex right now.

That XTP load is my go to formula. My 2012 Whitetail is on this forum too. I dabbled with PRBullet extreme elite 360's and whacked a ton of mule deer, and a cow moose with them. I just got away from them as they are a tad pricey when you compare them to a 50 count box of XTP's. I might move back to them, but I bought XTP's and short petal MMP sabotage bulk so I'm good for a spell.

What velocity do they have out of you muzzle loader? I also load them in my .444 as well as the 300gr Speer UC but haven't killed any game with either yet.

I killed my deer at just over 100 m with a 45 colt loaded with the 300g gr XTP. punched through one shoulder and the ribs on the other side and then through a 3" tree another 10 m behind. Never did find the bullet. Blew a 1.5" hole through the ribs on exit. Deer ran 25 m before collapsing.

Never ran it thru a chrony, but quickly comparisons to stuff posted on the interweb.....I'll estimate around mid 1600 fps.

I am shooting the same bullet out of my muzzleloader in front of 100 grains of 777 FFG powder. Killed one deer with it so far but did not recover the bullet.

Congrats on the moose!

I shoot the 240 grain XTP's outta my .44 Mag with Trail Boss for my close range brush load for deer... I like them alot... also shoot 240 grain gas checked hard cast with Trail Boss.

Over a dozen deer taken by 300 gr XTP's out of my savage ML. At ranges under 150 yards they hit like the hammer of Thor.
