You do realize that "Norinco" branded guns are made at a slew of different factories. Some supply the military with quality small arms (like the T97, Type 56, etc.), and some make sh!tty 870 knockoffs. The overall quality of whichever Norinco product you buy depends heavily on what it actually is, and which factory it is made in.
 
Does anyone know if these guns would be accurate enough for coyote?. I know nobody has one yet but based on the previous model?. The 97 looks like a seriously handy package for a trunk gun.

I imagine it would have comparable accuracy to the Tavor, 2-3MOA is what I'd expect, but I can't be certain about this.
 
So excited!! I've been in the fence on buying a Tavor. I preordered the 97 to see if I like the bullpup design. If Jan happy with it after firing 1000ish rounds I'll consider the Tavor at $2700+. By the looks of it, the carry handle and front sight are 1 piece, so maybe a flat top upper will be offered by the aftermarket.

Was thinking the same thing. Compact enough to fit under the tumble seats in my minivan.
 
anyone who questions Norinco (or chinese) quality really needs to study some history.

There used to be a time when goods Made in Canada, Made in Japan etc. were considered junk.

Do you remember when Hyundai first came to the market? They are a far different car today.

I'm with Moosedude, I'd like to handle one first before committing my $1000. It might be "1/2 the gun something like a Tavor" or it might be less. I remember watching the Norinco Homeland 780s sell like hotcakes and was tempted but glad later I didn't. Apples and oranges, I know, but I think I will wait.

With any luck, just the availability of these will drive down the prices of other bullpups...I've read more than a few posts already along the lines of, " I was going to get an XYZ but now I think I will wait for the Type 97". One thing is for sure, the Canadian black rifle scene seems to be growing and changing at one hell of a rate!

Hyundai is Korean, not Chinese. :)

I'm hoping the same thing. Would love it if the Tavor dropped to 2k. Regardless, the availability and pricing of this rifle is great news for Canadian enthusiasts.

In one of the type 97 threads from a while back a member posted some groupings shot by doctor lector. I was impressed. This was before the confiscations and related :bigHug::bigHug::bigHug::bigHug: storm.

Also methinks you folks are still paying way too much for these rifles.

You'll probably be waiting a while then...

As for the prices of these driving down those of other bullpups, I doubt it. There's not much room for flexibility on prices when it comes to guns, and I doubt IWI will lower what they're charging North Sylva for a Tavor because we now have these Norks available.
