Bren Gun on Sons of Guns

They could have done something new and innovative with the Bren by making it belt fed.... Hmmmmmm something like a.....

You have to wonder why not.

I would like to see more detailed pictures of the belt fed Bren.

If you look at pictures of the British armored vehicles in the 60s, 70s and 80s they have a 7.62 Bren mounted on them.
They were used in the Falklands, and I heard some were used in Desert storm. The L1 A1 mags could be used with the 7.62 Brens, it makes for a simplified ammo supply.
I would love to have a 7.62 Bren for my collection.

The real reason they changed from 303 to 308 was because the buyer was ex british forces from 20 years ago hence he wanted the same bren that he would have used which would have been a 7.62x51 L4.

hahaha, good point!

I do find the main guy to be hard on the head, but gun shows are few and far between so what's a guy to do...spend time on here I guess!

if you can filter out the rest of the show , they do have some nice guns on there,......when i was a kid I watched Charlies Angles ...it wasnt for the storyline....

I dunno, I find that show to be kinda painful to watch...so many grinding wheels throwing sparks, but they never really show what's going on. Builds up the "drama" that's inherent in every gun store, I guess???

If they can keep it entertaining, even if not that educational, and avoid the "drama" of the kind that ultimately killed off American Choppers, I'll watch it. Yeah, too bad about the Jeep, looked like an early one. I expect a lot of the explosions and barrels flying in the air are purely for show and entertainment..

yeah that jeep i had to turn the channel at that part its one of the big milsurps after all (although it may have been a early cj painted they can blend in with military jeeps)

A while back they had a" gun expert" evaluate a 38 Arisaka carbine. He ranted on how he had to down load some reloads for it as it was known to be a weak and dangerous action .As well the Arisaka has no safety! The man was an idiot...........Harold

That douche Wil said 303 is VERY hard to find and VERY expensive....ummmm reload?

He said the 308 was good ol' US of A , and inexpensive and readily available.....

hard to find?! Wal-Mart has .303 Brittish here, and it's about the same price as .308 reloading is not even neccessary but it helps. Also I'm not sure how the curved BREN mag would handle .308 if anything it would be easier to convert the 8mm Mauser ZB-24 into .308 as that fed from a similar case style. It would also be a sin to deface history with the ZB's or the BREN,

Did you see the one where they scoured the country looking for arisaka rounds and found like 7? Thats it!!!! Then I think the had to make the rounds less powerful......I can't remember exactly....I love to hate that show.

If I remember correctly, the owner of the Arisaka stated that the gun had not been fired in 60 years and was worried that the full charge ammo may damage it and wanted to go with under powered rounds to lessen the risk of the gun being destroyed. I believe he said his father took it off a captured Japanesse soldier and brought the gun back after the war...

the guy wanted a L4 witch is a british conversion of the bren to .308 not big deal

if i where to build a semi auto bren id have a bolt and a barrel done up to shoot 7.62x54r all it takes is to switch the barrel and bolt out and it can go back to .303
