Random Killing after Hunting Season Ends

I definitely hunt for the food it provides me and my family.I hunt anything l can to fill the freezer. ln my opinion the guys that blast animals for fun are not true sportsman and give the rest of us a bad rep.Don't get me wrong l do shoot nuisance wildlife around home.l think shooting for fun should be saved for targets and range.

Now that hunting season has ended here in Alberta, some of my friends have recommended to do indiscriminate random killings of crows, magpies, tweety birds, squirrels, coyotes, rabbits, etc. They say it is good fun, but I'm more of into hunting for the meat, so I am not sure if this appeals to me. Anybody else into this kind of hunting? If so, why do you like it?

YUUUUP! I love to kill crows! When migratory season is over, crow fills the rest of the year. In B.C there is no bag limit and no closed season. It keeps my trigger finger happy.

What are the rules regarding pest animals anyway, are you allowed to leave them where they fall or are you obligated to use the meat / pelt etc.

I live in Alberta. I've hunted since I could hold both ends of a .22 off the ground at the same time. I've hunted nuisance animals, including gophers. But indiscriminate killing? Killing for the sake of killing? I have no idea what that has to do with hunting. Friends that encourage it-I'd check my definition of friends.

Taught my kids at an early age that they can shoot anything they want.....as long as they eat it.

My youngest was about 7 when he saw a chipmunk standing there looking at him, kid aimed at him, lowered his .22 and looked at me for approval.

Told him "go ahead, as long as you're hungry".

Chipmunk lived.

Indiscriminate random killing? That makes sense as a recreational activity?

Can you spell psychopathology?

Some people here in Alberta shoot lots if crows in a day. I wonder what they do with all these dead crows? Just chuck them in the woods?
