Concealed/Open carry for Canada....ever?

Like mentioned above, if you use one as a tool for your job (hunting, trapping) sure. I just feel locally, everyone would want one 'cuz he has it....for the coolness factor, not for protection....not for a need.

If we had the option of concealed or open carry, I don't think I would carry a handgun around town either. BUT, letting someone else decide whether I need to or not is why basically no one can get an ATC right now. I work out in the bush in northern BC, a lot of the time alone and a long way from cell phone service, never mind any kind of help. You better believe I would be packing a loaded handgun on my hip if some government bureaucrat hadn't decided that it isn't necessary and that it should be illegal. It would be way more convenient than loading and unloading my rifle everytime I get in or out of my truck and carrying it as well as my tools across the site to where I am working at that particular moment. I have to find something to lean my rifle on to keep it out of the mud/dirt, but at the same time keep it close enough to be useful if needed. Have I ever needed a gun to defend myself? No. Do I want to get close enough to shoot a bear with a handgun? Absolutely not. But at the same time, I have never needed car insurance, I hope to never use it, but I still have it too. Same with health insurance, home insurance, etc. So at the end of all this, I don't think anyone should have the right to tell me when/where I or anyone else should be allowed to carry a gun. Sorry if this comes of as harsh, but I feel strongly about this.

It is going to take a lot of time to change everyones thinking.

Know this, off duty leo are not allowed to carry. If the government won't let them carry how much work will it be to make them let you carry?
I don't understand their logic, if all those members that were off duty could carry the amount of members on the road or in public with the ability to take care of business would double. Now what if we had members of the public that had been given a course, they had jumped through all the hoops and were allowed to carry? How much larger would that force now be? And at what cost to the government?

I myself feel that I should be allowed the right to "choose" if I want to carry to protect myself. I want my wife to have the right to choose, if she wants to carry a firearm or not. We as citizens should not have the tools to defend ourselves taken away because people think we don't "need" them. Need has nothing to do with it, it is my decision as to how I defend myself, not some one else. How do they know what I need?

I am getting tired and off topic, so I will sign off before I get things too muddled. Oh, I also want to be able to use a surpressor on my AR 15 while I shoot gophers in a field with my 30 round mags with my 1911 in a holster on my hip.
