Does anyone know where the sling attachment points are? (Or are there any?) I think I see one on the buttstock, but on other pics, this is absent.

"Does anyone know where the sling attachment points are?"

In the picture, It appears to be attached to the bayonet lug mounting block just in front of the hand guard.

From the horses mouth

OK.

I have been monitoring this forum for a few days and this is the first opportunity I've had to post as It has been a busy week.

Let's set the record straight regarding the T97NSR, I wanted the be the first to post about it, but some excited dealers beat me to it.

For well over a year now, North Sylva has been working very hard with Chinese State Arsenals to redesign the receiver on the original T97A rifle. A few prototypes were created, and after a few tries, it seemed we finally got it right.

This newly made firearm will be know as the T97NSR. It is important to note that this is NOT a T97A. It has been completely redesigned from the ground up. We are currently in the process of finalizing on the FRT number and the new sample should be approved shortly. If everything goes according to plan, these should be in stores hopefully by early spring.

Please feel free to ask any questions you may have.

Thanks, North Sylva

Man with soo many pre orders and people wanting more how many do you think they will import at the end of all this ?!

If things go well, it's not hard at all to imagine a steady stream of these coming into the country, much like the CZ 858.

I can't afford this rifle right now. I could buy it, but me having enough money to get some mags and ammo for it when it actually arrives isn't a sure thing, although it's likely. I'm conservative with my money, so this is a no-go for me at the moment. I am hoping these are both of good enough quality to sell well (not really any doubts there, milspec Chinese kit is good kit) and sell well enough for them to be imported continuously. If so, there's a guaranteed sale in the future.

Looking forward to reading some reviews about these things, maybe even handling one at the range if I see one locally.

Well... looks like this is building up to be type-97 disappointment part 2, North Sylva posted that they don't actually have an FRT yet.

So that says to me (TV-PressPass) that the FRT is not currently finalized, but that they are expecting it to be shortly.

Not to pour water on this, but seeing how long it took the RCMP to determine that the initial Type 97 were evil baby killers and should be prohibited, I wouldn't count on getting delivery when NSR gets delivery. You know the techs at the RCMP lab are going to mess around with popsicle sticks, string, paper clips, rubber bands, a Dremel, toothpicks, and bubble gum until they can make that sucker shoot full auto. Maybe I'm bitter about the whole mess with the first Type 97, but I'm not holding my breath. With that said, I want to be proven wrong, and I want one.

I am concerned about the FRT situation, but as we well know the RCMP like to drag their feet with these things. I am guessing fall-early winter 2013 before these babies get here. I pre ordered one with the expectation of a yearish wait.

Can-Am has said that they dont expect them to be approved etc by this spring earlier before this whole pre order thing happened. If I remember right Can-Am said 2 years...

RCMP Tech Desk Memo:

It came to our attention that a new T97 is being made called the T97NSR. We have been asked to check this rifle out and see if it should fall under the same prohibited status as the original T97. After careful deliberation we have found that if you throw out the T97NSR and buy a regular T97 form the black market then you can easily have a firearm capable of fully automatic fire. So for this reason we have to deem the T97NSR prohibited for being too easily to convert to fully automatic.

I hope it doesn't take too long or I will be in the US and I will only be able to buy an AUG, poor me....

My tinfoil hat is beside me. Imagine if this was all a plan just to piss more people off so they would join the 97 fight.:onCrack:

Awesome, if it weren't a disturbingly accurate portrayal of they way they seem to think.

I think odds will be good that these will pass muster and be available for purchase in Canada next year. I'm sure a lot was learned the first time around and North Sylva has done everything and then some to ensure this isn't another repeat experience. The wild card of course is the RCMP but I'd still put the odds in our favour.
