The 80% stuff is an American thing. In Canada, the laws are less clear. It's been said by the RCMP that once you intend to make a gun , it's a gun. Therefore, the 80% thing doesn't fly.
I don't know of anyone selling them now that the gestapo have deemed it verboten.
I had an interesting talk with one of the techs at the CFC about 80% lowers.
I did some checking.......
80% lowers are uncontrolled by ITAR. So shipping is no problem.
There is no duty at the border on them, just GST.
I called the CFC, no problem they said. Once the lower is capable of taking the fire control parts call us and we will register it. We may ask for pictures. I was also told they do several a month..........
I just received shipment of a 80% lower from some very nice people south of the border. I called they took my CC and shipped the lower, jig and tools no trouble. The package was even opened by CBSA. Absolutely no trouble!
Look for a thread I will be starting after the weekend, maybe not for a week or 2 as I will be waiting until it is registered before I post pics etc.
Cheers!
Uhhh..... that is not true. Even a blank forging that has had zero work done to it is ITAR controlled. Whoever sent it to you broke US export laws and they'll end up in a huge pile of crap if caught. The fines that can be received are more than enough to bankrupt a business. Next time you do some checking you may want to check with the folks who take care of ITAR exports, the US Dept of State.
I can't speak as to the legality of the product in Canada. RCMP seem to writing the rules as they go. Last I heard they were still legal but Dlask was getting hassled enough that they may have stopped offering them.

Well judging from the PMs I've been getting, that is exactly why people want to do it here as well.......
I'm starting to think maybe I should have just kept this to myself.........
Facepalm. Again.
By that logic, why did you buy one for yourself in the first place? This site is going full retard I swear to god.
Why would you want to get 80% lower anyways?
People do it in the us so they don't have to register it or put a serial number on it after it is build into a rifle.
But in canada you need to register the gun anyways..
I guess they must have changed things since the last time I was talking with someone about them.Armedsask, I generally agree with what you have to say and respect your opinion, but this is wrong. The 80% thing does "Fly" in Canada, I have talked to the CFC about them. Furthermore, it is not verboten to own one, to buy one, to sell one, OR to build a firearm out of one if you jump through the proper hoops to get it registered properly. Dlask may have stopped advertising them because they were taking heat for it, BUT, they are not verboten! PLEASE do not keep spreading false information.
