So boredom set in and I got me arse out of bed early.
Found a set of fugly Millet rings and an old beat up
scope to put on a new to me Marlin 39A.
The itch was too great to find something worth while to
fasten on the Mountie.
Sooooo, git it all together, round up the BL-22 with a trigger
mod, the pizz me off T-Bolt that I have a few hours into
push/pulling 600 grit through the two sears, my trustie
BLR 358win dash queen and all the fix'in to go shoot'in.
The 358 came along to curse Murphy.
Went up to the Looky range and got meself all set up.
Frick'in cold wind, and not the eye deal day to toss lead,
but what the heck, fun anyways.
The cop did better than expected, the BL did hookay too.
The T-Bone was shoot'in high to the left, so I adjusted that.
New target, one shot, close enough. Second shot, WTF?
Meeander down the 30 paces and found one big hole.......Whooooot.
Threw 8 more down there and opened the hole up and a flyer.
Enough of this nonsense. Clean up and go for a road hunt.
Seen four does up from the Looky range. Cool. Sat and waited a bit.
They were in no hurry to move, soooo, dang, fergot the Sony. Dumb chit.
Wandered around the quad trails with the Zuki and saw some new country.
Couple more does. Crossed the main road and meeandered west a bit.
Two more does out of the corner of my eye eating. Didn't stop but kept
an eye on them. Didn't like the way the trail was thinning out so I pooped
a U-ee and wandered back. Came to a Y and took a turn. Went through a
dip and picked up a "The Stick".
This was close to the spot where the last two does I seen. Stopped, neutral,
pull the e-brake lever and get out. Stick hanging out under the driver's door
caught up in the undercarriage. Gave a tug, nuther one and noticed an ear twitch
over my left shoulder. Got up and saw a two point antler over the bank.
Out he comes, across the trail about fifty feet in front of me. Then the does.
I follow them up the hill and they were less than fifty yards in front of me.
Interesting to note that he kept himself between me and his gals.
The size of the buck didn't represent the hat he was wearing. They weren't
spooky at all.
I knew it was going to be one of those days. No camera to prove my type.
So five days into December, which makes it a four point mulie season.
Dang.

Moral of the story???????????.........you don't need to light a smoke
to see deer. Fetch yerself a stick....... :D

Is that the KTSA range by the weigh scale ?
If so, my first memory from there was finding a small Rattlesnake curled up beside my shooting bag at a pistol shoot about 20 yrs. ago July.
I moved my bag away verrrrry slowly and the little fella never moved..... Thank Goodness !!

No Kevan, that's not the range. I had to take an oath of secrecy before he would take me to what he calls Looky range.
