Is this a legit round to shoot deer with in sk ? Reg says it has to be larger then .23 which it is but i cant find anything about a min lenth.
Yes, i was aware FMJ is not allowed, is a soft point going to cut it ?
Yes, SKS and SP is the poor man's way to get meat.(dont shoot from too far away XD)
Anyone can confirm ?
IMO, the 7.62x39 will perform similar to a 30-30. Just keep the shots within reasonable range and it should work fine!
There are a few companies chambering this in bolt guns, and the mini-30 is still an option..As for an SKS, that has to be the worst option out there...It's heavy, poorly balanced, has chitty sights, and a poor optics mounting system...The only thing the SKS has going for it is price...
Worst option for you perhaps.![]()
You are correct on the SKS's faults IMO as well. Got one too, it's great fun. But it's a bit of a beast due to the above mentioned faults.
I say if someone can shoot well with an SKS at common hunting distances which are well within 200 meters and is not interested in drinking the optics koolaid then I say go for it.
