The same way others have expressed "hate" for me because of my collection, I hereby express my "hate" for you because of yours.

Like I said in an earlier post, I don't have any "metric" FNs in my collection other than the Israeli one, because all of the ones I have ever found for sale are 12.3. I was going to buy the Portuguese contract and German one that John at Marstar sold a couple of years back, but I waited too long and someone else bought them. Both of yours represent the hole in my collection.

Did you swap the butstocks around, or did they come like that?

Exactly like that. The G1 is 100% the way it was when issued near the end of the production run (with the Sturmgewehr 58‎ butt stock). The Belgian has a GG&G picatinny rail and Canadian flip sight so it could be made true to original in about 5 minutes.

Okay, that's it... I have to play! :nest:

My first ever C2.....

I could not resist. I had to jump into the FN conversation! ha ha ha ha

Cheers,

Barney, I think the C2 outweighs you in those pictures... ;-)

Having said that my sister showed me some 20 year old pictures of me the other day... ;-(

Interesting! Learn something new every day! I have seen plenty of Belgians with wooden buttstocks / plastic handguards like yours, but I have never seen or heard of German guns with the Austrian plastic stock.

Are there anymore FN's out there?

I've got an L1A1 tricked out with Canadian furniture and rear sight. I was lucky enough to pick it up not long before they were made prohib, and only put a couple of hundred rounds through it. I'll see about a picture RSN...

Previous to that [around 1980] I had an Israeli metric version with all plastic furniture. Foolishly I sold it when I thought I needed the money more [this belief is always mistaken...]. I wish to hell I had kept it...'undocumented'...they were NR in those days.

I liked the FNC that I had, it shot well but I sold or traded it off. The sights were great compared to an AK or a CZ.
I think the Canadian government tested a variant of the FNC as a replacement for the C1. I never heard much about how it compared to the M16 platform.
