I bought a Ruger 10/22 Take-down (first firearm) over the weekend. We went out twice and shot it on 2 separate days. I have put about 200 rounds through it and seem to be having the same problem reoccurring, more often than not.
It is a completely stock 10/22 Take-Down using the Ruger 10 round mag and 40 grain American Eagle 22LR 500pack.
When I looked at the jammed rounds, the round was almost fed into the chamber, but got stuck with the lead round nose half way into the hole, and the other half below it. It crushes the the round nose. The bolt only closes half way after the jams and stops. The spent round is ejected out the side like usual, but it is the next round that is getting stuck. When the bolt closes the whole way, the next round is seated perfectly. I can push the bolt forward and it will seat the cartridge in the correct spot but I'm almost positive that the cartridge still has a dent in it. It generally jams every other round for the few rounds and then the 2nd half of the mag shoots well.
What am I doing wrong? I mean, it is a brand new firearms so I'm hoping it just needs to be broken in.
