Who didn't tag out this year?

I had a rather dismal year. Seen a ton of mulie doe the last couple days of bow season. No bucks though. Today is the last day for them and I'm stuck at work. Next weekend I'll have my final chance at a whitetail. Its not looking good for the freezer this year. Luckily my hunting partner got a moose, whitetail buck, and and monster mulie buck this year and he doesn't mind sharing. Regardless of not putting any meat on the ground myself, it was a good time in the bush with good friends and great memories. I learned a lot and found plenty of new hunting areas for next year. At least I can say I tried my best and went out every chance I had. Now it's time to spend quality time with my friends and family that I have neglected for the past 3 months.

Me........., got out once on the second last day of the rifle season. Had two yearling does in front of me @ 32 yards, no antlerless tag, just a buck tag. Never applied for antlerless. Still I had a good look at them through the scope on my old Model 71.

I tagged out in whitetail early this year. Filled 3 tags. But I still have my black bear and wolf tag. I did see some nice bears but failed to connect. I saw a massive wolf crossing the tracks out about 200yards. Of course I had my 4570 instead of my 2506. I called and squeaked and had it come up about 40 yards had the rifle raised as I saw patches of fur moving thru the trees ...then the wind changed. I felt the breeze on the back of my neck. I don't know if it smelled me or heard my heart beating but it faded away in the thick without a sound.

I made the mistake of not shooting a whitetail doe. I had 3 easy shots on different days that I passed up looking and waiting for a buck.

Next year meat is coming before antlers.

Never filled any tag this year. Seems everyone else around me in my chosen locale was putting meat in the freezer. Oh well, that's why we call it hunting.
The mainspring broke on my muzzleloader, but that's no excuse because I used the Mauser for back up.
On a similar note, I've seen alot of other empty pickup trucks out there.

mule deer tag has been uncut this year. got 1 more week to go. If i dont get anything this season I hope to get one next. first hunting season for me btw.

We got our moose (fair sized bull) but the I was injured at work by one of my extremely intelligent co workers, so missed out on fall turkey both deer season and any chance of a bear hunt... There's always next year right

I always shoot a doe early. Then I hunt Antlers, at least I always have meat in the freezer.

Only tag i didn't fill was for a mule buck, but i never went out for one either. Filled 2 doe tags, a whitetail buck, bull elk, and a bear tag so didn't have room for anymore meat even with giving some away.

No whitetail(s) yet for me this year, one weekend left though.
Was after one specific buck this year and passed on some smaller deer waiting for him to show.
I did shoot a nice bull moose though, a good year in all.

i think we had 13 tags between a group of (at its peak) 10 guys. all tags used by thursday.......Also I think some of the group members are still able to donate their meat to shelters and fire halls and stuff...
(and we had a few get away from us, and let a few go)

2 bear in the spring. Otherwise empty freezer and expensive
grocery bills. Next year will spend more to save on buying
expensive uncertain quality meat.

the second and final controlled hunt for the season finished up last week and as far as i'm concerned the season has just begun. i like to track them down in the snow rather than sitting in a stand, but this season i only have a buck tag and we have zero snow with 2 weeks to go. i'm praying for snow at this point, but i may just have to freeze my nuts off sitting in a tree to get the job done.
