I started this same thread last year. I'm a gear junky and love hearing what to buy and what to stay away from. Lets hear about the things that you tried and tested in the field this year

For me, grim-reaper razortips and g5 small game heads were both awesome.
kershaw zip-it was pretty handy to have while skinning
led lenser headlight was amazing while field dressing and skinning a buck after dark and was great for setting out decoys (except when it shone in my hunting partners eyes)
leupold vx-II - never had a chance to take it hunting but it will not be my last leupold. I'm starting to see what the fuss is about
Bushnell excursion Binoculars - excellent for the money IMO
Canada Hammer goose call worked great
nockturnals worked great
unscented kirkland baby wipes - seriously great to bring along hunting for obvious reasons (also next best thing to a shower)
badlands nano fanny pack was pretty comfy as long as I kept it light
kuny's leather kneepads are a permanent part of my bowhunting gear checklist now

As far as the gear I won't be buying again:
winchester blind side ammo - just not worth paying more for
hevi-shot BBB - same as blind-side but with poor inconsistant crimps I'll stick with good old kent fasteel
north face boots - good boots but not made for where I was hunting. My feet didn't hurt but I had a few cactii work their way through

Tink 69 buck bomb spray.

Got me with in 10 yards. Very impressed.

Was that synthetic or the real deal?

Legally we can only use synthetic in MB but I've hunted with a guy who worked roads in AB and came home with real Tinks 69. His wafers just permeated the bush with stink and he bagged a big buck using it.

Bulldozer moose call - fail.
Got one for a birthday gift.
With practice you can make some good sounding calls, but it's too quiet and too easy to make awkward sounds with.
I much prefer to use my voice.

It's been years since I purchasd the latest trendy gear to help me harvest animals, however I have purchased great cheese cloth from Walmart that is 10 feet long and wrapps up an entire deer once it is skinned. Most cheese cloth is to short for deer, let along elk and moose, but this cheese cloth manufactured by Remington is the best that i have purchased/used. Plus, using my hanging rig helps put the cheese cloth on much easier.

Bought a couple of wind activated mojos. They worked great.

Bought a new Ruger #1V 22.250 and topped it off with a Bushnell 4-16 x 40, it works great too.

Bought a Buck Gardner Acrylic Speculator "Specklebelly" Goose call and each time we had specks passing over it worked well to get them into shooting range. Shot my first specks this year using that call.

Bought a Caldwell 9" - 13" bipod for my #1V but am not impressed with it. It is flimsy compared to the old original Harris bipod I had years back.

What worked:
Kuiu Guide jacket - good, not great though and will see about the durability
Tenzing 2220 pack - great pack, much nicer than the Badlands and the construction top notch
Meindl Denali boots - awesome boots for walking, comfortable, supportive and very durable
Ice Breaker merino wool long underwear - very nice stuff,
Lacrosse Alpha boots - awesome insulated rubber boots, extremely comfortable and surprisingly warm
McMillan edge stock- what's to be said, it's a McMillan!

What didn't:
Kuiu Chugach pants - didn't wear them much, but they are noisy as hell, have a stupid amount of seams for rain pants and the material does not look very durable at all. Furthermore, a little item that Kuiu neglects to mention on their website is that clearance items are not only final sale but they are also excluded from any kind of warranty which is bullsh*t. Final sale is one thing but not offering warranty because its on sale is garbage. Other top brands offer warranty regardless of what you pay, and its transferable!

Superformance ammo - tried this stuff in 3 different rifles and it wouldn't group at all! May work for some but definitely not me

Tinks 69 didn't seem to work, rackstacker fixation was absolute sh!t. Those doe estrus incence sticks from tinks didn't work. The only thing that worked forme so far was my ameristep "covert" ladder stand and it is great.

Under Armour Gunpowder Pants - I am not usually one to buy the "fashionable" or "big name" brands, but after wearing the UA long sleeve compression cold gear which was amazing, I figured I would give them a try. Though pricey, I have to say that these pants are amazing! Very comfortable, surprisingly durable in the thickets, quiet and water proof. I paired them up with under Armour Cold Gear long underwear, and I was perfect temperature throughout.

Under Armour Hurlock Pullover - Awesome product and served as a perfect mid layer or even an outer layer during some walks through the woods tracking deer. Surprisingly warm when worn over a good base layer.

Irish Setter Rut Master Rubber Boots (800g Insulated) - I cannot say enough good about these boots; fantastic product. Again, some may say a bit pricey, but good footwear is an area where you should not skimp out on.

track that rig is awesome. I'd like to make something similar that goes in a 2" receiver hitch and has a leg that goes down to the ground. I was also thinking about making a tripod rig out of 1 1/2" emt but I think the legs of the tripod would be in the way. Did you make yours or buy it?
Also I should mention A++ for muck boots. My feet were always cold until I got these. Now they are always perfect. I even wear them snowmobiling and quadding. They are also very comfy
