would like to get a price check on a 1965 Winchester Model 100 chambered in Winchester 284 stock has a recoil pad and has been refinished blueing is very good very reliable any help would be appreciated thanks

Is it a carbine (barrel band, plain stock, 19 inch barrel)? Has the firing pin recall been done? The pre-64s are worth much more in the 100 .284 as they made far less of them. The fact that it has a recoil pad and has been refinished takes away from the value significantly as well. The stock might have been shortened to accommodate the recoil pad as well. The desirability of the 100s is way down these days and yours has no collector value since it has been refinished. Top dollar should be $500 as a shooter.

Even funnier is when some poor sap pays that much! (Twice the value that is) when it is quite easy to find out a rifles cost/value these days..

possibly you could do some math for me price of rifle, plus 30 factory cartridges, plus 100 handloads(that shoot 1/2 to 3/4 groups), 40 once fired cases, set of RCBS dies, 100 154gr bullets, and a new hard case to be shipped in.

What is funny to me is when someone who has NO INTEREST in the matter has to put THEIR TWO CENTS IN

My apologies, I didn't mean to direct anything towards you, either as a seller or a buyer. Good luck with the transaction!

BTW, if you are selling the rifle I was interested....

I also would be very wary about buying OR selling hand loads, first of all they are usually rifle specific, safety is another concern, liability, and most of all I do not think selling reloaded ammo is legal. The latter I could be wrong, but its worth looking into.

The "value" often depends a lot on how much someone really WANTS the gun. I have WANTED an M100 in .284 for a long time. So when I saw one at a gun auction I said to myself "I am buying that gun." I may have payed what some would consider too much but I am happy as can be that I know own it.

M100-.284Win doesn't turn many on here in Canada, trust me on this I had two of them.

I traded a pristine .284 Rifle in on an AR, I think it's still sitting unsold after three years,....and traded a .284 carbine, the the Holy Grail of M100s in the good 'o US of A against an nice M70FWT. The rifle as described is worth 500-600, depending on a wanting buyer. A little more than the same rifle in .308Win because of condition and modifications, but less than a M100 .308Win carbine.
