Free Meat

People are not picking on you

You ask a Q and get a real answer. This fantasy of yours is fine but if your asking us who have killed these animals for advice and don't get exactly what you want to hear.... Tuff. I'm telling it like it is.

Coyotes are good for fur and management. Some other small game for food as well.

Get off the computer and get some experience. Common back with a kill and let us know how you made out using every pice of the animal for something.

I expect to at least see you on here with a hide you brain tanned some day.

If you need pointers on how to hunt a coyote feel free to ask.

if you shoot a raccoon eat the meat its good but make sure its cooked right

i like to use every part i can of a animal meat/heart first and then sinew and hide the bones tend to get put back into the brush too much clutter

A coyote will eat a coyote, my buddy shot a couple over a dead cow bait and left them to pick up later and when he did go back later , there wasn't much left !!!

i DONT wish to eat these animals....hence my post in the first place.....Whats the sense in patronizing a newbie? Im here asking genuine questions, and hoping for genuine answers....not to be bullied....Im trying to build a more DIY self sufficient lifestyle, and in the process collecting information. I hope the older cats werent as unwelcoming with you when you were at your novice stage...... :(

go out and do it for some time, you'll see what will work for you and what wont , until you get off your butt and try you will only be living in a made up reality, you'll decide for yourself if the pain vs. gain is right for any of the ideas you have in the "self sustaining" realm.

good luck

Get a thicker hide. You're Going to need it. You asked for opinions and you're getting them. Quit crying and complaining that you don't like the comments, you asked for em. Right now ya sound like a converted tree hugger.

don't know where you get your meat from but I can assure you I don't eat animals that eat meat.

Unless you only eat meat you produce yourself, by some combination of hunting and/or raising livestock, you really can't know what the hell you are eating.

Even venison (which literally refers to meat obtained by hunting, i.e. not strictly deer meat) if taken in farm country, which is almost always the case, comes from critters who are feeding on crops that have been sprayed with who-knows-what cocktails of pesticides, herbicides, etc. And as Maximum observed, many commercial operations feed cattle with feeds produced using beef by-products. Wasn't that one of the main concerns with the spread of Mad Cow Disease?

Don't take it to heart. We've got a (for the most part :) ) great bunch of guys here, and a wealth of knowledge you could never hope to fully assimilate. That said, some thread topics are mildly annoying/recurring, and some end up being absolutely epic and remembered for all time. Hell, some have their own special day (please don't ask any questions about bear defense, zombie defense, shooting into space, or which hunting partner ripped off the other). A lot of the newbie ribbing is tongue in cheek, and actually usually pretty funny when taken in the context of the forum as a whole. Stick around for a while :)

Your absolutely right. To some people , a lot of this is second nature, but to some of us, we have to start somewhere. Its discouraging to be picked apart, but thankfully my self esteem isnt in the balance. I think its important to welome newcomers to any sport or activity, if the newcomer has genuine interest. Im not bittered, i enjoy this site, it truly is a wealth of information. (after you sift the the MISinformation and personal opinions).
