Bought a new 700 as in the title about 3 months ago . Have taken it to the range 4-5 time . I seem to have an issue with it grabbing a round . Open the action load up 4 rounds , making sure that they are all back as far as they can go . Sometimes it'll grab a round , other times it will slip right over the round . I then have to push on the front of the round to get the rear to pop up enough for the bolt to catch it & load it .

1) does the rifle need more break in time ( have shoot about 160 rounds) ?
2) do I have a faulty follower ?

If needed , I can post pictures .

Hinged floor plate? I found that sometimes on a newer rifle, when you open the floor plate and close it again, the floor plate mechanism follower is not really where it should be. Open and close it a few times and then open the bolt and push the follower up and down a bit so that it will seat properly. That might help.

it happened to me a couple times when i short stroked it. be sure to pull the bolt all the way back.
once i was like wtf? misfire?

Dont be afraid to " tweek" the spring under the follower a little. My Titanium 300wsm is still a little finiky at times. My 708 titanium the follower would for some reason not allow the last round in the magazine nose to tip up enough to slid in the chamber. i just bent the spring a tad to put a bit more pressure on the front of the cartridges. Works flawless now

Never thought of that ! I will give it a try if it persists .

Ya people complain lately about Rem's not feeding, Its a simple system, there not all gonna be perfect. Sometime's people get frustrated and dont think to look under the follower when you drop your floor plate. Should be an easy fix.

AR mags can be the same way ... sometimes you have to tweek the little tab's at the top of the mag if its over or under feeding ammo ... no big deal.
