My Swiss Arms Story: UPDATE Post#162, My Theory on the Extraction Issues

FWIW our range CQB developed a crack in the upper receiver forward of the ejection port. SAN has offered to replace the receiver. They are a great company to deal with and really stand behind their products.

Negative on the old upper.

I have inquired as to what if any problem they were able to find, I have yet to receive a response

Just curious (as I have a Black Special Carbineon the way) but maybe they just stripped your old top end and re-built it from the ground up?!?!?

Could be why you have the same serial #.

Dont take any offense Im just speculating as to why they would make a whole new upper and put the exact serial # on it. Yes, I know to match the bottom half but still.

I bet your gas hole was undersized.

I don't get it?

SAN replaces my upper receiver, and the answer to everything is the gas hole was undersized???

The didn't replace the barrel, just the upper receiver. It definitely was not a gas system issue.

I'm not sure what I will do now that I have two NR Swiss Rifle's. I really like the Classic Green colors a lot more, but the new receiver has no brass scratch or anything, now it looks like I will have decide which one to sell:( The Classic green has the more versatile 1in7 twist barrel. I guess I'll try to sell the Black Special. Or maybe I'll keep it, who knows though, you might see a cheap/discount Black Special pop up on the EE in the next little bit.

For the money they charge for their product, they sure as Hell should have excellent customer service.

Well hopefully no more stoppages for you and you'll be right and I'll be wrong.

I didn't mean to insult, this isn't a matter of me being wrong or your being right. The "gas hole" your referring to is inside the barrel yes? Well they tried my rifle with a completely new barrel and gas block and the problem still occurred. So how could it be the gas hole?

The problem was sourced to the upper and so the upper was replaced, when they test fired it, it worked properly, where before it did not.

Again, this has nothing to do with right or wrong, I'm just sharing with you the facts as they have been explained to me by the numerous gunsmiths involved with this.

but now you are selling it???

I was trying to avoid advertising it in the thread but yes, Christmas is here, and I have a three year old daughter. This has definitely hurt the pocket book. I also need a hunting rifle, this should help with all of that. Plus I have this aching pain in my neck the doctor described as "your wife" that insists "you just don't need two of them" and as much as I love having two, and at the risk of sounding insane, I think I might secretly agree with her, I won't shoot two of them. So there it is, for sale, shiny unblemished upper and all.

At the price listed I'm a litte surprised it hasn't sold already, apparently I'm not the only one, check out this PM I got earlier, I left his name out. I guess I figured it would either sell almost instantly, or take months. I'd like it gone, but I'm in no huge rush to rip myself off either.

Edit: I was asked by the sender to remove their PM. They wanted to buy it too, but had apparently just purchased their second Swiss Rifle and couldn't justify the purchase of another.

At $2500 I'm suprised it lasted more than an hour. Wonder if you have interested people holding out for price drops? :p

I can promise you there's not gunna be any price drops. $2500 is the lowest I'll go.

:confused::confused:I dunno if I should be discussing my add like in this thread like this though, I don't want to break the rules:confused::confused::confused:

Poor time of year for high ticket guns. You're competing with Santa Clause. Besides, not everyone has $2,500 to pull out of their a$$. Not to mention the rifle has had it's fair share of issues and this entire thread illustrates what a complete pain in the arese it is to get warranty service with foreign manufactured firearms where the firearm must be shipped outside North America.

IRUNGUNS has put a damper on used gun sales........

Maybe we should start calling you Scrooge McShill? ;) Black rifle prices have been falling for well over a year. There's simply more supply than demand at the moment (in general).

Then RRSP/RESP season, tax season...

I'm sure some people have concerns about whether the problem has once and for all been fixed. Has it been used in any extended range sessions since it was repaired, short of a small test fire outing?
