So it seems that the new shipments includes many that are unissued, I couldn't believe it until I got one from weimajack, it was unfired, like a brand new rifle, it was literally NEW

Does this mean that the stream of sks rifles are getting thin, and perhaps soon they will no longer be imported? either due to market saturation or supply?

I know there were a lot of these made, but since the gems are starting to be imported, I would guess that they are out of the bottom of the scumbucket rifles and are now tapping into the private reserves?

what do you milsurp/ red rifle lovers think?

I doubt that Canada has imported enough of them to totally decimate russias supply, but wether or not they want to sell them to us is another story. It may be to that other contries have been buying them up for recent "unrest" situations like what happened all over the middle east.

I wouldn't be suprised of they(the russians) started off selling us ones that were "good enough" while keeping their better stock in reserve, but as we A) bought out all the ones that were "good enough" and B) learned more about them and what we wanted, demanded better stock and C) have developed better relationships over time with suppliers and have steadily gotten better stock as a result.

I don't think they will run out in the near future, but the prices may start climbing a bit if supply is thinning out.

I came across this when researching SKS's. Not sure how true this is but may be a factor.

Quote:
"According to Shotgunnews Russia’s Ministry of Defense plans on destroying 4 million surplus guns by the end of 2014. Supposedly Russia has stockpiles of about 16 million guns that are no longer in service with the Russian military. It wasn’t officially revealed what kinds of guns they intend to destroy, but word on the street is that they’re most likely Mosin Nagant rifles and carbines, SKS carbines, T33 Tokarev pistols, Nagant revolvers, AKM rifles, RPKs and PK machine guns."

We just need to convince them to sell them all to canadians.

Or our suppliers came across a different warehouse that stocked un-issued firearms?

This just seems stupid.

Why would Russia destroy all these guns when they can make good money selling them?

UN small arms treaty. Reuters had an article (that I can't find anymore.. typical!) that mentioned the treaty requirements and Russia's obligations.

When the experts (westrifle and weimajack) tell me the supply is nearly depleted, then I will believe it. From what they tell me, the "barrel in the Ukraine" is empty. The latest shipment seems to be the premium Russian stock. I suspect there are a few more crates in Russia. The question is, how many more will be made available to the Canadian public before the rest meet their fate in Russian smelters. My belief is that we'll see a few more shipments and that's it. I hope I'm wrong.

It's unlikely that the Chinese SKS's will go away anytime soon. The Chinese produced more of these bad boys than any other nation.

How many come in a crate, and what would it cost to get one? I've been thinking for a while now out would be smart to buy a bunch while they're still cheap.

To my knowledge, ten per crate. I've looked online and talked to a few dealers, I think you'd be looking around the $1500 mark. A bit cheaper if you can get it from a distributor though.
