Hey Guys,

I already have an LMT complete AR, but I have been giving some thought to building a complete rifle in the new year. I guess that the logical place to start is with a stripped lower. Is one better than another, or is the cheapest lower generally as good as the most expensive? I would like to try to do it is economically as possible, however I would like to build something for longer range accuracy so if I have to spend more I have to spend more. Thanks in advance!

Aero Precision and Stag trigger from Arms East. Eveything fit together well, High standard buffer I got from Brownell's

I feel there are two schools of thought on this, the first being more prevalent and probably the one you should lean towards.

First being that the lower is just a box to hold parts, the most expensive being as good as the least expensive in terms of functionality, where the only real regards is the fit, finish, and features. So you can pretty much pick the one you think looks the nicest.

The second school of thought is if you are building a precision rifle that the lower is your stock, and with any precision rifle a properly bedded stock is important. If you subscribe to this school of thought you would thus want a high end lower that is a very tight fit. If you are going this route the idea is that you would want to mitigate any chance of receiver flex (I think the jury is still out on this one), thus you would want a matched upper and lower set.

I like the idea of getting a Cadex, but they are around 250 dollars more than many of the competitors. Is it worth the spread?

Just got one of these from saskatoon gunworks, think it looks nicer then my Armalite lower.

Depending on the year of manufacture fir your Armalite lower it may very well be an Aero precision one. The monolithic upper is AP along with AR10 lowers for California being branded AP. In short Armalite lowers are AP ones just different roll marks. The quality of the current Armalite/AP lowers is excellent.
