Colt 1873

When you #### the hammer the trigger moves back quite a bit.

If it's still an issue for you then what size gloves do you wear? I take Large or Xlarge and have no problem getting my finger in the guard cocked or not. Um.... Speaking of gloves, you're not trying to wear shooting gloves while handling it are you?

If your fingers are round like beef sausages or you are wearing gloves, this will be an issue. I understand that the design is a faithful reproduction and many of the guys I shoot with have chubbier fingers than me, and they seem to not have too much trouble.

When you #### the hammer back, the revolver is ready to fire and the triggers are pretty light. If you have very large fingers, making room for your finger by cocking the hammer is dangerous advice.

I was sort of assuming that he'd have it pointed downrange while looking over the sights by that time..... :D

I'd have to agree with the large fingers deal though. If that's the case then it simply may not be the gun for you. None of my fellow CAS guys or I have any trouble getting their finger in there and SAFELY cocking and shooting during a stage of fire.

I don't have any trouble with fingers, I was just curious as to how close to spec these guns were. I know my fatherinlaw wouldn't be able to safely handle this firearm loaded. I guess Wayne had models with larger guards.
On my gun the trigger winds up in the same spot weather in the fired position or fully cocked.
