So I am starting to load for both 9mm and .40SW. Id love to be able to use a powder that works for both. This will be plinking ammo. This will also be for use in a carbine. Ive loaded for several years with rifle calibres, but pistol is new for me. A nice point in the right direction would be much appreciated! Thank you and MERRY CHRISTMAS!

There are plenty of powders that would work for both...

If you haven't already you NEED to invest in a reloading manual. There should be data there for powders that will work for both.

But off the top of my head winchester 231 should work for 9mm and .40 sw

Invest in a reloading book.

I bought one a week ago, and read through it all already. Gives you more than enough info to start and figure out what powders you can use.

I used to use titegroup for 9mm. Stopped using it. It worked but it was snappy and scorched cases.

I use WSF now for 9mm and I like it alot. It meters well and is a good 40 S&W powder also.

google search winchester reloading data and go into their system and punch in the calibers, and you can pick the pullets you want to buy and it will narrow down the powder choices. This is how I found a powder vor my 9mm, .45acp and my future 44 magnum. I ended up with Win 231 for powder.

Screw it, heres the web site, just remove the space after the first h....
