I`ve heard of used and "decommisioned(?)" police sidearms being sold to the public, but can't find any info about it. Anyone have more info on this? You can PM me with details if you have any info.

Police ordnance sells agency pre-owned, although stock seems low at the moment

there is some regulation saying that cop guns in canada cant be resold on the open market. but they can be brought in, so US and German guns are ok

Sporteque sometime have stock of police buyback glock. When an agency change from say: 9mm to .40S&W they buy the old gun back to make the deal and after passing an inspection, they resold the gun to public. They did it with a batch of G23 last year (barrel was changed to make it restricted). The price was fair, especially compared to the EE.

Prior to the implementation of the C-68 Firearms Act regs a few years ago, decommissioned police guns were sold to licensed firearms dealers or police officers with firearms licenses.

The proceeds were used to offset the costs of replacement firearms.

Now, they can only be sold to other police agencies - who are probably not interested in worn out guns - or destroyed. So they are generally destroyed.

Guns advertised as LE surplus now come from the States or Europe, or someplace else.

Your likely able to find a contract over run than an Ex RCMP Smith and Wesson (example only) that has been issued and returned when the member retired.
Last I heard of any guns going to Crown Assets was when the RCMP went from ?Revolver to Pistols and those guns where being offered to a third world country to assist their police forces.
This from Allan Lever..you know the store everyone loves to diss at least three time weekly.

I don't know about regular member's revolvers but I was told Auxiliary Constable revolvers ended up with the sheriffs in BC after they were taken away.

Guns are sometimes traded back for new ones, checked out and then resold by the suppliers.

Police Service Act in Ontario prohibits the selling of any guns by police to the general public.

"Police Service Act in Ontario prohibits the selling of any guns by police to the general public." The Act prohibits the Police to sell to general public. But it doesn't prohibit them to sell it to the dealer who, in turn, will sell to the general public.
