Looking for a "high value" AR15

I'm looking to get my first AR15, I would like something decent with out breaking the bank if possible and not a Norinco. Something just for some fun target shooting and maybe some defensive shooting matches in the future. Some suggestions of models and sources would be appreciated, thanks.

For the same price, you get a basic handguard and basic butt stock for colt.
For Daniel Defense, you get a $300 quad rail and $60 magpul moe buttstock. That is almost $400 in upgrades.
Yes it is a worse deal if you get colt.

if you have the money uy a KAC, LMT or HK

What's breaking the bank? Price range? Do you want DI or piston? Lots of after market furniture or stock MOE stuff or aluminum rails? Iron sights, optic?
