Single shots?

well, I think I've heard recoil before, the time I handed my middle son a 7RemMag to test fire. There was a sort of squishing sound and then a whole lot of loud cure words! I thought I'd heard all the cure words before, but no sir, there were some there that I didn't know existed! Scope eyebrow happened!

;)Come to think of it, from your description, I believe I've heard recoil as well under similar circumstances. That experience was from when as a teen who had just graduated from a sporterized Lee Enfield to a Parker Hale in 308 Norma Magnum. I went for an evening 'look' for a Moose, accompanied by a friend who was, 'inexperienced' in virtually any aspect of shooting. Being quite proud of my new rifle, we stopped at a gravel pit on the way home and I took a couple of shots. When I finished, my friend said "Let me take a crack outta' that". Result,:p I 'heard' similar;) recoil noises and :eek:saw my friends broken glasses, right eyebrow split wide open and a broken rear scope ring to mount attachment.

all my guns have magazines but i have a wrist band and i drop my rounds in one at a time ... most reliable and i only ever take one shot anyway.
Sigle shots should be all you need. Got it from my old man ... he runs a ruger #1

Three more no1's left the importer yesterday bound for my post office. Can't wait to see these ones, especially the 303 br circassian, believed to be the only one heard of this side of the border. Correct me if I am wrong.

Darn, all the Ruger No.1's are ending up in Garson! :p
Good for you, my friend. Santa is being extra nice to you!
Merry Christmas.

I am off from Xmas till new years. We should get together and blab about rugers. I don't know what I want next. I would love a new 77/17 but they dont make a lefty.

Don't overlook the H&R break actions. My deer gun is now a 20 ga. Ultra slug hunter. Man I love shooting that gun! It's a tack driver as well!!

I hunted exclusively with Ruger #1 Rifles for about 5 years.
Never felt handicapped by them, either.
I have owned #1's in 222 Rem, 6mm Rem, 7x57 (3), 270, 7mm Rem Mag, 30-06 (2), 300 WinMag (2), 303 British, 375 H&H.
All were quite accurate with loads they liked.
Wish I had kept my #1AB in 7x57. :(
Regards, Eagleye.

Love my single shots. I have a TC Pro Hunter in 300 win mag and a beautiful Ruger #1 in 270 Wthby I love them both and have never felt disadvantaged when hunting with either. Shot my moose with the Ruger last year and my Elk with the TC This year. Both died so no disadvantage noted

I currently use a Ruger No 3 ( restocked with a really nice No 1 stock) in 45-70, great shooting rifle and nice to carry. I have owned 2 Browning B-78's, one in 45-70 and one in 30-06, both were very accurate.Over the years I've owned and used a number of Ruger No 1's in everything from 223 to 458 win mag, some more accurate than others, but all were excellent rifles.
As you can probably tell, I like single shots. A2
