SAN CQB to 553 gas system specs

But can it be DIY project or it require extensive(expensive) gunsmithing?

Pretty sure it's drop-in. Effectively replaces the whole gas system, but shouldn't need anything done by a smith (as far as I know).

AFAIK it's a new gas piston tube, gas piston w/spring coiled around it and bolt carrier. You should just have to swap out the parts.

TSE might have them on hand or can likely order them in for you. Another place to try is there competitor, The Calgary Shooting Center...also employs a Swiss Arms gunsmith.

I'll warn you though, they are expensive parts. You need a new gas cylinder, piston, bolt carrer and charging handle. I think the whole deal was around $1100 for the parts.
