Have a hatsan mpa and I want to put an extention on the mag tube just for looks. Anyone know where I can get one. Plan to plug it to comply with regs

OK OK UNCLE ! I get this question so many times about my modded MP-A and all I can say is that I got mine used and that it was from a Hatsan pump.

Well GREAT news for you HATSAN MP-A owners that want a nice lookin mag extension .... I did a bit of homework and here is the answer that all of you will be pleased to read about.

http://www.tacstar.com/home/magazine-extensions-02.php

A TacStar 7 Round Extension Tube made to fit the Benelli Nova/SuperNova. The threads are the same and once you screw it all the way down, there is only one thread exposed which I covered with a number 18 O-ring. This O-ring not only covers the remaining thread but allows the extension to screw on tightly and wont loosen up during shooting. Snug the O-ring down over the threads on the gun before screwing on the extension. You can also use the original spring that came with the gun or the one supplied by TacStar. I would think that any after-market mag extension tube made to fit the Benelli Nova would also work on the Escort, but I know the TacStar works fine. Don forget to pick up a 10 pack of O-rings at Home Depot. Although there are similarities between the Escort and the Remingtom 870, the Remington Extension Tubes don't work on the Escort because the cap is too short to cover the cap threads on the gun.

The nice thing about this Tac Star is that its alu vs. plastic. The one that I have on my MP-A is one from a Hatsan pump and its plastic. I like the look of alu better myself but thats me.

A Benelli brand extension for their Nova doesnt thread on, Confirmed itlast night.

Thread major Diameter and pitch looks the same of the modified box thread but the thread profiles varied slightly, good thing Im a machinist, simple fix. i didnt have any tools with me to actually measure anything though.

it threaded on almost a full turn, if it did thread on (threads matches) no modification would be needed to the hatsan feed tube, no spacers would be need...

But Tranman mentioned the 'Tacstar' extension worked perfectly... The extension you mention is different.

Also, I own a Benelli SuperNova, so worst case, I'll have a mag tube extension for it.

I have the Tacstar extension on my Hatsan and it works just fine. I have heard reports though from some people that its hit and miss for threading properly. Maybe Hatsan changed their threading but all I know is mine threaded just fine.

OK I ve no idea what you ran into but I can finally confirm that NO tools are needed to mod a +2 TacStar extension tube onto the Hatsan MP-A. The addition of an o ring is needed ( a no.18 to be exact.) so the +2 TacStar tube can be snugged down and that it covers the last thread on the shotgun tube.

Again just in case anybody else needs a confirmation on this mod - please look at the pics below of a MP-A with the TacStar extension tube along with the number 18 0 ring placed the exposed threads.

Hope this clears up any confusion.....

PS - forgot to add: I actually like the TacStar better than the actual Hatsan tube. Its made of aluminium as opposed to plastic.

Oh and dont forget to plug the tube afterwards...

Who sells tacstar and how much are they?
Also, aren't these guns 5 + 1 to begin with.......are people just putting in blank extenders for the look?

Isn't this now an illegal firearm? Thought limit for semi-auto shotgun is 5 total (4+1)? Corrections appreciated.

Edit, meant 6 total, (5+1) with +2 extension makes it 6+1
