I am not into reloading at all, but I'm definitely curious and was wondering if I'm wrong in assuming that availability of .223 bullets should best be described as 'scarce'? I have been looking around at vendor sites and it seems like I can find any calibre other than .223 for the bullets themselves. I see on some sites they have just about every other part of the cartridge for .223 except the bullet. Am I wrong here?

They are common, but popular, the high demand sometimes means you don't find them sitting on the shelf for long. I've never had a problem getting them, other than assuming I could walk into the local Cabelas and find the weight of 224 bullet I wanted. The popular weights, 45-69 grain tend to go fast, so its just like shirts when all I can find is smalls and ###L's.

Higginson's also sells .224 diameter rifle projectiles (Hornady and Winchester)
