Well, maybe it wasn't Santa, but I'm not complaining! Received an Email on friday from Prophet River, your Arisaka has arrived from the US, when do you want to pick it up? That was faster than expected, here are some pictures of it. From what I can tell it is a Kokura Type 20, all original, numbers matching. If you see more distinguishing features, let me know!

Merry Christmas.

Definitely Kokura. Looks to be one of the painted guns, which some ppl think is a post-war embellishment, while others think it means naval issue. I think the jury is still out.

Nice snag.

I have what should be it's twin except for two things:

1) Mine is a Toyo Kogyo, and;
2) The importer "misplaced" the bolt.

So right now it's just a nice-looking pile of parts not worth showing pictures of ;). The importer is still trying to locate the missing bolt.

I am very happy with the rifle, and I think you are right Claven, it does appear to be painted on and around the action, more noticeable after a good cleaning. At least the paint was nicely done and appears to be original.

Yikes!! That's a real drag, hope it turns up.

If I remember correctly, wasn't this rifle a Marine bringback with shipping box or am I thinking of a different one?

Your right Steve, It came with the original wooden shipping box, haven't had a chance yet to take off the brown paper wrap it came with, I'll post some pics of the crate when I get it completely unwrapped!

Beautiful.

The only thing stopping from getting some form of Arisaka is the high ammo cost coupled with my inability to reload at the moment.

Thanks! For me, the box sounds very interesting. I collect USMC bringback items, looking forward to the pics of it as well.

Cheers,
