im 80% of the way to wanting to buy one but im having a problem pulling the trigger and trading up from my m&p 9mm for one. my only real hesitation is that a 92 is not truly ambi. im wanting a inox with rosewood grips but the lack of a slide lock on the right side is stopping me. anyone care to chime in on my dilemma? it sucks being a lefty sometimes......

There,two reasons
Its a iconic pistol a beretta 92 and a 1911 of some sort should be in every safe.

I held a 92FS Inox and I must say that finish is just gorgeous. My big hands felt great in the thick grip... it was nice. Too bad I've never shot one. Cosmetically, the 92 Inox is beautiful. Can't vouch for the function or reliability. I hear they are good pistols but haven't had any experience with them.

Yes, the 92 will take the 96 mags and you can fit 13rnds of 9mm in it <cough> although it was designed to hold 10rnds of .40SW. I like the 92, bought me one this summer and had one (predecessor to the FS) many moons ago when I used to shoot.

Do you notice any differences in quality between the older model and newer one? I've seen this criticism posted before...

As far as I can tell, I can't see any differences in the two, then again, I had that 92F way back in the early 90's. As for shooting them, well I'm still looking at getting my LATT so my 92FS has been a safe queen since... :p

I did shoot a Girsan AT92 (?) clone this past Saturday at Target Sports. Not bad. Could be a cheaper alternative to getting a Beretta.

A real man find his way to live. If you like it, buy it. What is the big deal it is not true ambi. I have seen many left hand shoot use non ambi gun without any issue. furthermore the 92fs is a great gun.

solid, accurate, dependable, easy to disassemble/clean, parts available anywhere, can be bought new/used for very reasonable price. The 92fs line is awesome, so are the 92a1's, worth a comparison, but a nice update/upgrade to the classic 92fs design....

I have the 92fs, great gun, works flawless, so far 2000 rounds without a single jam..., one of my friend shoot with it and he is a lefty hand, he just work with it and it's not so bad for him.

Beretta 92fs or CZ75b Shadow or SigP226 , choice any of those and you won't regret ... some are ambidex, make your search, there is great choice out there for lefty hand...

just bought the 1911 Remington R1 .45acp, wow !!! almost no more recoil than my 9mm's , very well balance gun, I am sold to the 1911 models now,

I can sell you on one but would never sell you mine ;-)

Thousands of rounds thru mine with with out an issue. Once time I messed up on my reloads so it wouldn't cycle the slide (under powered) and would jam every 3-4 rounds, that's pretty much the only time I had to deal with jams and it was ridiculously easy to clear them since cases can't hang up in the ejection port like they do sometimes in other guns. If you care about looks and still want a dependable well made gun 92 is a fine choice!

I have a 92F and I am a lefty, I love the pistol my only thing I would change is the old school sights (dovetail) I would love it more if it had adjustable sights, I suppose I could replace them but ppffff!! and as far as fit and feel while shooting there are no troubles for me at least but hey, one guy once said on here I only own two handguns!, But I rent hundreds!!! so buy it try it and if its not you sell the darn thing I have bought and sold a tonne of guns because I thought, "i neeeed that one dam it!!!!!!" only to have it, shoot it, and find i don't actually like it that much or it feels like crap, so jump in boss the water is warm!!!!!,

I had a 92FS about 15 years ago. I got by, lefties have to!
I sold it, the fixed sights did not agree with me and back then I did not have the knowledge and resources to replace the sights.
I own a M&P right now, and although I have some reservations about it, I still prefer that model.
YMMV
