Are you having any feed issues with the mag tube extension and the railed forend?
I am having a hell of a time making it work...
it appears the railed forend sits a bit too far forward and doesnt allow the mag tube extenstion to full cover all the threading on the mag tube...
as a result the spring hangs on the threading/gap and the gun fails to feed.
not only is this annoying it is a real b*tch to clear the jam.
Interested to hear your results when you run this gun the first time.
looks awesome but wasnt there a issue/warning of that muzzle brake sending shot back at the shooter and his/her friends? i wanted the road blocker so bad...
Does the muzzle brake actually work?
to the OP did you have to mod the recoil spring/metal tube inside the stock?
No. I made sure I didnt have to do that.
What I did was cut down the spacer and the nut. Since I did that I also had to cut the thread down on the metal tube. This did not affect the spring since there was ample length to cut excess material off.
If u want a pic of what I did - i can take a shot of it so u can see what I did.
I really enjoy reading about others projects and thanks for posting.....I mean no disrepect, but personally I'm not a fan of your mods. I also have a 930 that I really enjoy using for 3 gun, all in cost is around $1000 as follows:
Cut and thread barrel - $100
Chokes - $150 or so, can't remember exactly, (F, M, C, IC)
Oversized safety and charging handle - not much, maybe $30-$40
Sling adaptor - $30
Grip tape - free
+5 extension - $100
Quick load 2 shot side attachment - $12
Sights - $25
Gun - $550
Trigger job - free (clean 2.75# pull)
Was there a reason for the light if it is only for 3 gun? Personally, I hate the look and idea of that roadblocker muzzle brick. I started my project with a 930 field model, if I had to buy that model, I'd quickly cut that piece of crap right off.
I added grip tape to almost the entire foreend and like it much better. I also added grip tape to the trigger hand gripping area as well. Personally, I would not have added grip tape to the end of the stock as I generally prefer the stock slip freely from the shoulder to ensure smooth loading. It is bad enough as it is with the rubber recoil pad as that tends to bind against my clothing.
I got a couple of ideas for mods from 7.62mm, because of my blatant plagarism, him and I basically have the same gun.
Again, thanks for the project post, a lot of this is personal preference. In either case, I like seeing what others are doing.

Hey thats also an interesting project. Its pretty cool to see peeps here take a stock firearm and giving it that personal flavor on a more limited budget.
OK now my turn to ask the tech questions:
Trigger job @ 2.75# pull. Is it possible to get advice on how to do that safely? Im not actually finished modding this 930 btw. Ive found that the spoon or loading gate tends to thumb bite with the weak hand load and I am going to mod the spoon to eliminate that problem. Ive actually tried to weak load with my thumb bent to prevent bite but its a work in progress so why not mod some more.
As for the spoon Ive also plans to cut a slot down the middle of it so as to have a window. My Benelli M4 has a slot cut to remind me if Ive ghost loaded it.
BTW - How secure is the Quick load 2 shot on yours ? Is it mounted by screws on the thin plastic foregrip ? Will it actually hold up to any hard use since it can be susceptible to getting caught along with it getting bumped and banged. I know mine is more than capable from its design since Ive intentionally dropped it on the shell carrier on the concrete floor from 5' up. It got scratched thats it.
It seems you had missed entirely my point with the grip tape. The reason for it is not to slip is because it no longer catches and bind on my shoulder since the LOP is now properly fitted to my arm length, hence I get proper clearance when reloading or doing a hi or low ready start.
The grip tape solution on the foregrip is OK for adding ...more grip, I find it however still too narrow for my hands hence why I changed it over to the BobCat foregrip. The other problem that was solved with the foregrip change was the terrible design that Mossberg did to the back of the grip. They had angled it so as to limit the clearance around the loading port. DUH. Mossberg has since fixed this stupid on the SPX and the JM series 930 by squaring the rear of the foreend but tape grip or not the item is still too narrow for most hands.
And as far as the light for the project, the shotgun to begin with, looks outlandish with the Barrett like muzzle brake and does nothing to actually reduce the muzzle blast. In spite of that shortcoming, I wanted to NOT change the overall original look but to take it more over the top - hence the NINJA project. The flashlight therefore like the muzzle brake is their for the sheer audacity of being a mall ninja shotgun thats used for 3gun.
What I like about this project is that from the start there was no expectations to make it the ultimate 3gun comp gun. (Ive far better and more specialized ones for that purpose) It was to be as NINJA edition for 3gun and so far its on track.
