anybody ever build a custom transit case for their 870 and all the accessories? pics??

Pointless.
It's called a soft case. Or a hard case. There aren't enough 'accessories' in the world for an 870 to justify a wooden transit chest.
Feel free to make one, but my guess is you would use it for one range trip and then realize 'this is heavy and a waste of time!'.
On a side note - I am planning on building a transit chest for my Browning M37 when it arrives. Now THAT'S a good idea!

hmm tough crowd,
as far as accessories go there are enough available to fill a pick up box full , as far as being dropped on my head , mmm nope, but I would suggest that mabee you kev may have yours up your a** or else your hat is too tight...
go over to the milsurp area, there are guys making boxes for their 303's all the time
As far as what I would have in my box wouldnt be too crazy,
870p 12ga with 20" barrel
spare 28" barrel,
2 shot mag ext
chokes and choke tool
tactical flashlite mount
sling
oil and cleaning rag
I have one 12ga that is used for many things from packing for grizz protection while getting out my moose , waterfowl hunting and sometimes just plain fun shooting a bunch of targets in a gravel pit.
